Need some take-to-work snacks

I'm in a snack rut and I could use some ideas about snacks that I can take to work for those mid-morning slumps. I've fallen into a nut-based trail mix routine, and that's fine, but variety is always nice.

I'm looking for something that requires no refrigeration or heating. I want something I can throw in my "food" box and will be there for a few days or weeks without going bad. I know about dried fruit, but I need to limit my intake.

Any thoughts? I'm stumped. Pretzels and popcorn fit, but aren't quite what I'm looking for. Carrot sticks, etc., aren't going to work, either.

Laughing Cow cheese wedges are shelf-stable for at least awhile.

They come in flavors and low-fat/regular configurations.

Individually-wrapped pieces of cheese - they keep at room temperature for a few days based on personal experience

I like to take a wedge + 6 Triscuits + a walnut half + a raisin or cranberry per Triscuit - just the right balance of sweet and savory, IMO.

Another thought - it's not my cup of tea, but beef jerky is another option.

Individually-sized cans/cups of microwavable soups - shelf-stable and no prep required other than grocery-shopping.

(Oops, just remembered you said no heating...hmmm...no chance you could have a baby micro in your ofc space? And of course, you could nuke the individual can and take it in a thermos but that's a "same day" kinda thing...)

Jar of peanut or almond butter. No-sugar-added (or sugar-added - your call!) jelly.

Apples keep for a week and are nice with peanut butter or cheese.

Graham crackers and flatbreads.

Individual-sized tins of tuna, chicken, etc.

Dark chocolate - I like the 85% and hubby eats the 100% (yep, that's right - no sugar added) for the health benefits.

individually-wrapped Rice Krispie treats (storebought or homemade) - also good with peanut butter

I tend towards carbs that time of day. Muffins, oatmeal baked and cut into wedges. Aseptic soy milk in small containers could be left in your lunch bag. Cathe has a no bake peanut butter chocolate chip cookie that I put in the freezer and just pop one or two out each day. http://cathe.com/healthy-recipe-no-b...p-protein-bars

I also like individual packs of applesauce, fruit, and jello pudding. Neither require refrigeration.

I keep a drawer at work that has rotating snacks! Here are some things that have been in my drawer at various times:

*Dole's Real Fruit Bites (80 calories per individual package)
*Snickers Marathon bars (these are protein bars that taste almost as yummy as the candy bar!
*various cereal bars, including Kashi and Archer Farms (from Target)
*Kashi's Heart to Heart crackers (if you can bring something refrigeratered to go with these, try low-fat string cheese or guacamole--I love Wholly Guacamole in the 100 calorie packs)
*Paul Neuman's High Protein Pretzels (thanks to another VFer for recommending these!)
*Clif Mojo Dipped Bars in Peanut Butter & Jelly (actually taste like PB&J!)

I am always looking for new ideas too!

Wow, there are some really good ideas here.

Believe me, the cheese suggestions are very welcome, but I'm a cheese hound as it is! Dairy, any dairy, is my dietary weakness. I can give up meat, I can give up sugar, I can give up chocolate, I can give up almost anything else, but I gotta have my dairy. Given my druthers, I'd drink a gallon of milk a day. Toaster, I like the cheese/crackers idea. That's one that hadn't crossed my mind.

Buffmama, talk to me about these oatmeal wedges. That sounds interesting.

Lucysql, a jar of peanut butter is an excellent idea! Hadn't though of that one.

Twodiffsocks, thanks for the links. I'll check them out.

tigerbaby, It hadn't occurred to me about the jello, but that's a good change. thanks!

I keep those little tuna fish/cracker kits for the days I don't have lunch and don't want to hit the local fast-food joints. They're not bad, but they aren't particularly filling. They keep me going for a couple of hours.

I had to stop keeping a jar of peanut butter at work--I tended to binge on it!
