Grape Nuts smoothie recipe (does not use the cereal!) PB&J smoothie recipe added

This is from the book "Smoothie-licious" by Jenna Helwig. It is unusual to find smoothie recipes that use apples. I like this book because it has nutrition info for every recipe. The servings are not very big, so you may want to have something else with it if this is for a meal.

Makes two servings:

Ingredients:

1 cup of almond milk
1 cup chopped apple (I did not peel it)
1 cup frozen grapes
3 Tablespoons cashew butter (you can use almond butter like I did, or peanut butter)

optional-honey

Add items to blender in order listed and blend.

I add Trader Joe's baby kale leaves and shelled hemp seeds for more vitamins and healthy fat.

Nutrition info per serving (makes two servings)

224 calories
5 g protein
14 grams fat (3 grams saturated)
24 grams carbohydrates
14 grams sugar
95 mg sodium
121 mg calcium
1 mg iron
381 mg pottasium
5 mg vitamin C
331U vitamin A

Oh, this sounds so yummy! I love veggies, but I'm not quite so keen on fruit--except in smoothies. Always looking for good recipes.

What kind of blender do you use?

I have a Blendtec blender. I cut the apple pieces quite small and they blended easily.

Which vegetables do you like? The book has some recipes that use vegetables.

That looks like a great recipe and I have some grapes I need to get rid of. Thanks, Sherry!

I hope you enjoy it, Laura! I froze a bunch of grapes I'd bought at BJ's. They were not as good as the ones from Trader Joe's or Wegmans, so I figured I'd use them in smoothies instead.

The book has a recipe for a "peanut butter and jelly" smoothie that uses grapes.
I have not tried it yet. It uses cooked oatmeal, which I can't decide whether it would be good or gross. Here is that recipe:

PB and J (makes two smoothies)

-one cup unsweetened almond milk
-1 banana
-1 cup frozen grapes
-2 TBS creamy peanut butter
1/2 cup cooked oatmeal, cooled

She made the oatmeal in the microwave-1/4 cup quick oatmeal with 1/2 cup water microwaved for one minute and cooled.

Add all ingredients to the blender in order and blend until smooth.

Nutrition info:

10 grams fat (2 saturated)
32 grams carbohydrates
5 grams fiber
16 grams sugar
138 mg sodium
125 mg calcium

7 mg Vitamin C
334 IU Vitamin A
