Anyone got results from lowering intensity ?

I have been doing insanity, asylum, lots of hiit and have been feeling totally wiped out, I was doing kettlebell kickboxing the other day and Dasha said about how important breathing was you don't want to be gasping, and something about cortisol, so I've been reading into cortisol and I have actually been feeling more like weight on my mid section lately, and wonder if its cause I'm doing to much and nothing good is happening, I was surprised how much sweated doing kettlebell kickboxing without feeling totally exhausted, so I'm thinking of toning it down and sees what happens, by doing dream body and kettlebell kickboxing. Has anyone else had this problem and got results for not all jumping every second ?

For me, higher intensity increases my appetite. (Which is why I do it!)

What is your goal? What results are you looking for?

I don't think there is one answer for everybody. Just do what works for you. If what you're doing isn't getting you the results you're after, change it up.

I mentioned somewhere else in another thread (can't remember where or when) that I've actually dropped a few pounds by incorporating some intermediate workouts into my week instead of doing intense/advanced workouts every day. Now, if I do something like Michelle Dozois, DB, or Tonique BTM, I'll take the intensity down a few notches the next day and then go back to advanced the following day.

I get best results from 2 higher intensity workouts a week (Spin class and a Cardio Coach) plus heavy weight 2-3 times a week, yoga 1-3 times a week and walking the other days. Too much intensity and I hurt and plateau.

I'm looking into adjusting my workouts for this very reason - however, I find I eat more after doing dreambody. I don't think that's taking it down a notch at all - at least for me.

I'm trying to figure out a new rotation for me right now as I'm just about done with D2S and not happy with my results (or lack thereof) so I'm going to adjust as necessary. For me, doing Michelle Dozios Body360 I feel refreshed, invigorated, yet worked out. I am definitely adding that in at least once/week. I'm going back to CLX/kettlebells as my strength and dreambody as my cardio. I'm at max going to have 2 dreambody per week, I may adjust that down to just one and see how it goes. I do also have the new kettlebell kickboxing set coming and plan on adding that in as soon as I figure out how to

I am noticing more in my midsection as well - but I'm also in perimenopause so I'm factoring that in as well.

We'll see how it goes.

I'm so glad someone replied feeling the same thought was just me I'm going back to kettlebells to for my strength training and dream body in between, I had a big baby (10lbs) so had a bit of baby weight to lose but now it seems to of stopped and I just feel worn out all the time with all the jumping from insanity, so I'm leaving it till after my holiday and when I get back see if changing it up a bit helps

For me (FOR ME, not making judgments for anyone else) too much intensity makes my appetite go through the roof. Drop Two Sizes, again for me, has been frying the fat off my waist and butt with only 3 strength and 1 30-minute metabolic workout per week, so yes, lowering the overall intensity has worked out very well for me, mainly because I'm not as worn out and hungry on off days.

I have got to the stage where I'm like ugh I haven't got the energy or want to do insanity today then the next day the same, where as things like dream body or kettlebells I like and enjoy and don't feel totally exhausted

After reading countless threads here on VF, I came to the conclusion that paying attention what workouts increase your appetite are the workouts that are most likely counterproductive to your goals if you're looking to lose weight. But it has to be true hunger. Dehydration can sometimes be the culprit.

I'm in the minority here at VF. Intense workouts kills my appetite. What I do though is that I make sure that my cardio workouts are varied during the week. I think this is key for me.

Here's a great article about the facts and myths regarding cortisol:

I think that's a good gauge of when a program is right for you, when you feel good and energized on off days rather than exhausted and sore (other than a little DOMS which is normal).
