Thanks as always difit!

We actually own the book Quiet (DH read it, but I hadn't), so I started reading it yesterday.

The Julian of Norwich book kinda bored me, so I gave up.

It was saturated with the author's opinions and everything was clearly from his perspective, and I just couldn't connect with the material.
Don't get me wrong, I'm interested in her life and work, but this was not any sort of biography or a book I could use as any sort of touchstone.

I'm disappointed, but decided not to prolong the agony.

On the plus side, I've recently started back taking notes from Mimi Kuo-Deemer's Xiu Yang and am delighted to see that the part I've gotten to discusses some stuff I've been hoping to learn more about (loving kindness meditation). Perfectly timed.

The writing notes thing is something I've picked up as an anti-anxiety/anti-depression strategy. Putting words on paper seems to soothe some part of my nervous system, so I've been making a point to write something, anything at least twice a day. Really seems to help.

LOL! I totally agree--if a book isn't working for you, dump it and move on!

I finally finished The Count of Monte Cristo and really enjoyed it. Not one of my all-time faves, but very entertaining. It left me with a bit of a book hangover, so I'm listening to the first book in Rick Riordan's Magnus Chase middle grade series which is based on Norse mythology.

I’m listening to The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah and reading Watching You by Lisa Jewel. I always have an audiobook & an ebook or physical book going. Both books have definitely pulled me in!

I’m not familiar with Scribd. Almost all my books, both audio & ebooks, are from my library.

My library finally got in the newest Jennifer Weiner book. I do not buy her books anymore. The Amazon reviews are not great, but I will try it free from the library.

I am reading On the Back of a Turtle, A Narrative of the Huron-Wyandot People.
I recently found that I have Huron/Wendot ancestry so my daughter bought this for me as a birthday gift. I have heard stories that my great grandmother had indigenous blood but no one knew how. I dug deep into her family history and found that it is true. So I want to find out about this part of my ancestors history.

I just finished Kim Jiyoung, Born 1982 by Cho Nam-Joo. While about a South Korean woman's experience of misogyny, I feel this could be written about any (every?) woman anywhere (everywhere?). Not surprised it is an international bestseller.

Now reading That Summer by Jennifer Weiner.

Also started The Comfort Book by Matt Haig since it was called a hug in book form and my mom is dying. Also bought her a copy.

Sandra, I just picked up "That Sumer " from my library. I will be curious about your opinion. I was disappointed with her last book.
