20 Days with 20 Instructors

Feeling guilty about having too many dustbunnies and virgins? Want to try some new Youtube instructors, but always workout to the tried and true? If so, this check-in is for you! Have fun shaking things up a bit :-)

DAY 1
#1: Do Yoga With Me (online) / Yoga for Lifelong Mobility / Guy Friswell (dust bunny)
A gentle yoga class is my favorite way to get started with my day.
#2: Jessica Smith / Walk Strong: Total Body (virgin)
Loved this workout! I'm testing out Jessica's strength workouts to start a rotation.

I like this idea of a Challenge, as sometimes I forget to go back and try "dust bunnies". When I do, there's always some that I "re-discover" again and love them! I will try to do 20 different instructors ... I certainly have enough unused workouts to cover that.

Thank you for coming up with this idea! I cannot wait to see what everyone is doing.

I went dustbunny this morning. I grabbed Denise's Matwork based on the work of JH Pilates. What a mouthful of a title, lol. I used to alternate the two workouts waaaaay back when I bought it. I bought it new, on vhs, in 2000.

I have done the first workout on it not that long ago, so I opted to do the second one, which is a yoga/pilates blend. Now, I was a huge Denise fan back in the day. That being said, she annoyed me this morning. There were weird transitions and she some things she said made no sense. For example, she has us do a side stretch and then comments on who its working our waistline. How, Denise? I did enjoy the balance work she included. And holy guacamole am I stronger than I was back when I did used to do this.

I'm not going to pull this one out again any time soon, so It went back into storage.

Uh oh ... Now I'm worried that reading about all these workouts will tempt me into buying even more workouts - LOL !!!

DAY 1 (July 11, 2021)
Virgin 2007's Michelle Dozois Rockin' Body Cardio Jam (51m)
Comments: what a fun workout!

DAY 2 (July 12, 2021)
1/2 virgin (I did the upper body workout many months ago and never did the lower body workout until today)

2011's Kelly Coffey-Meyers 30M2F Split Sessions: (followed Lauren, no band)
Workout 2 (Lower Body Workout) (good standing lower body workout)
Bonus Floor Work (meh -- didn't care for this routine)

Comments:
{Definitely a keeper, except I doubt if I will do the bonus floor work again. Looking forward to trying the premixes at a future date. Also, I've owned this DVD for 10 years and it took me nearly 10 years to do it! }

Day 1
A Journey Through The Chakras 4: Love w/Maya Fiennes

This was a virgin workout. I was feeling a bit like Mr. Jekyll since I spent the wee morning and early afternoon hours comforting a rather large German Shepherd that’s terrified of thunderstorms. Thought I’d break out the Maya love and see if I could transform into the amiable Dr. Hyde 😊

It worked! I feel much better! It was very relaxing and I enjoyed her music. However, the workout focused almost exclusively on breathwork. I found that a bit disappointing. I like the spinal work that’s included in many kundalini yoga workouts. Will I do this one again? Maybe, but probably not for a long, long time. I think her Detox/Destress is better, but it's nice to have a variety of choices.

Day 1 Patrick Goudeau
Body Design
Well, well, well..I finally figured out why i have been lugging around my 15lb body bar throughout the years, moving from 4 apts and 2 houses. Really, my last move, I looked at it and was this close to escorting it to the free curb. But my vidiot brain stopped me, as always.

This DVD uses it in all its wonderfulness.
I didn't see it was 85 mins long so I had to cut it short to 55 mins. I got through the warm-up, upper body and lower body.

Big Pluses
  • Unique and challenging moves with the bar.
  • Gave me ideas on how I can use the bar in other workouts. (it sat in the back of my closet because I had no idea what to do with a 15lb bar)
  • I like his personality
  • I got my sweat on.

Minus to some
  • If you do not like instructors that repeat a saying 529 times, this is not for you. Patrick needed an editor. He said 'Oh my goodness' probably 3 times a minute. But it stopped bothering me because I liked the workout and him and I agreed with him as the workout went on.
  • A good amount of squats and lunges with the body bar.
Overall, I'm glad I dusted this one off and I will do it again.

Day 1 = Sunday, the 11th of July
Shaun Thompson- CIZE - Go For It

Virgin workout but not virgin instructor.
43min, did get a sweat up. Routine pleasantly complex but built up at half speed in sections.

Day 1

Since I've had a yoga focus for the month of July (with the occasional kettlebell workout) I'll use workouts or instructors I haven't used in a while or someone new to me.

Had a very busy day, so got in some PM Yoga (Patricia Walden) and PM Yoga for Seniors (Lilias Folan.)

The Lilias PM Yoga workout I'd originally gotten for my mom but now I've had it back again, so thought I'd give it a try. While Lilias is a nice instructor (and perfect for an older senior) this was too gentle and slow moving for me. She does stretches seated in a chair, moves to the floor for spine stretches and twists, does some standing balance poses and back down to the floor to end in corpse pose with legs on the chair. She's very relaxing and has a nice, calming manner. But, many of the poses are modified to suit the elderly who probably are not regular exercisers. I found her neck stretches and shoulder massages very good to relieve tension. And, she is very positive and puts you in a good mood with her warm and caring banter.

The Patricia PM Yoga is on the same DVD with Rodney's AM Yoga. For some reason I'd never tried Patricia's workout before, but have had it probably since it's release. This is in a beautiful desert surround (maybe White Sands?) She has a soothing voice, but I got a little lost with her guided instruction or it could have been the camera work. One minute she's doing poses facing me and then she'll be turned to the side, and I found I was on the wrong side or foot, lol. I would like to do this one again to see if I can get it right, ha! And, she doesn't move quickly from pose to pose. Her instruction just could be a little clearer, since she doesn't mirror cue.

I'm glad I was able to try both of these instructors, and it might help me decide if I want to hang on to them...or let them go.
