I asked the question on Cathe's forum. I'll post if I get a response.

I got a response from Cathe's team on her forum:

Here was my question:

Quote:
Are the glute loops all the same size around (circumference) or are the different levels of resistance partly reliant on each loop being bigger or smaller in circumference?

I've already preordered the the DVDs plus loops & bands and am not planning to change my preorder, but I've read reviews of other fabric loops and apparently some manufacturers make the "easier" resistance loops bigger and the "heavier" resistance loops smaller in circumference in order to make the resistance levels different. Some people like this, while others don't.

So I guess my question is, are Cathe's loops all the same circumference?

Here is the answer:

Quote:
Hi amberdawn, all of our looops are pretty much the same size (within 1/2 inch), but you shouldn't assume that all fabric loop bands that you see on the web are made the same because they are not. We spend a lot of time sourcing the material used in our products so that they have the right elasticity and also are the right length for most users.

Cathe has over 30,000 hours of teaching experience, so she knows what to look for in finding just the right bands for our workouts so they have the right elasticity and don't fall off when being used in a workout. With our loops, the length is not a factor that determines the resistance of the band. Instead, it's the material that is used and the thickness of the material as well as how the loop is made.
Hopefully this helps people to make a more informed purchase decision, i.e. enable???

I'm even more excited now.

Aaaaaaaand...I cancelled my preorder.

I have about a million loop band workouts on a YouTube playlist. Perfectly sufficient. And Cathe is always too advanced (and long) for me.

At this point, I'm mostly convincing myself it was the right call, lol.

I am definitely ordering the workouts - these look great to me, and I love band workouts, and what Cathe does with the bands. I am likely ordering the bands, but likes some others the shipping gave me pause. I totally understand they have to recover their shipping costs. I just don't want to be the one that has to recover them.

Thanks for the giggle!

I am pleased with the quality of the Cathe equipment I have purchased so look forward to the varying intensity and durability of these loops and bands.

I bought a really cheap (but pretty) pink fabric resistance band at TJ Maxx. It's resistance is really light and has limited application for me but works well for my husband. He often tells me while using it , "Clams suck!"

He will appreciate having a nonpink band to use...even if it does say Cathe on it

Heavy Bands

I ordered the dvd and band set, but I know I won’t use the heavy bands.
If anyone is interested in the heavy bands, let me know.

I didn't think I would need heavy resistance, but then thought about deadlifts, lunges and rows, so I might be glad to have them handy....if any of those exercises appear in the workout.

Has anyone asked Cathe what the circumference is of the bands and loops? I see above that the glute loops are about the same within a half inch or so but no what the actual circumference is.

The bands they've said are 40" (on the forum). I don't know about the loops.
