It is SO frustrating!!!

Do they have any idea what is causing the low FSH/LH? I was also told 22 years ago to have an MRI to check for a pituitary tumor but I refused. It didn't come up again since then and I finally gave in and I'm sorry I did now since I really didn't think I had one. I assume my estrogen is very low, too - that hasn't been tested yet. They are referring me to yet another doctor but I just can't make the appt. - it's just too overwhelming to start over again with an unknown doctor.

I'm really sorry about all you are going through. You know I understand completely. It's incredibly discouraging spending so much time and money but the doctors can't figure out your issues and you still feel lousy. Big hugs to you.

My gyn has no idea why my FSH is so low, it's actually lower now than it was two years ago, and I'm having many more perimenopausal symptoms that I was having then.

My regular doctor is actually more of a "change your lifestyle" instead of "just prescribe meds" kind of doctor, so he's a lot more research based and much more root cause rather than treat symptoms. He believes a lot of bloodwork doesn't give the whole picture hormonally since it's what is just circulating at the moment the blood is drawn, not what is tissue based, but he still has me get bloodwork twice a year just to see where I'm at. He'd like me to get saliva tested for hormones but my insurance won't pay for it. He is also pretty stumped why all my hormones are so low but I told him that I'm tired of this wild goose chase of specialists. Both mentally and financially! He is really caring and knowledgeable so he said basically if he was concerned he'd tell me but he feels it's probably better to just live my life right now rather than keep going for all these tests that lead to nowhere. He also said he wouldn't be surprised if my body eventually rights itself after menopause.

I've seen a few endocrinologists over the past 25 years or so (mostly because I had some hormonal issues in my early 20s, hmmm, I wonder if that's connected to now?) and everything was "normal" back then too.

A PERIOD. And I had to start counting all over again. Yes, I cried. However, after that period, I did go a full 12 months and was done.

I did all-natural menopause. My mom had been on HRT for years and told me to NOT go there, she said all it does it put off the inevitable. She had to go off HRT at 72 and said it was just like going through menopause all over again and she was so mad!

That said, I'm sure there are better products and better protocols for HRT now than there wree 20 years ago.

however, if you're mostly asymptomatic, I'd skip it.
This is interesting because I was on supervised HRT for quite a while after an abdominal hysterectomy at 47. After a while I decided to stop it, and I had no problems at all. I did not taper down gradually. I was in my early 50s. I certainly was not 72.

I am not sure I would make the same choice today, but at the time my symptoms were so bad that I felt desperate.

I was 47 when the periods stopped, and at 48 was diagnosed with osteoporosis. So BHRT was part of my successful effort at rebuilding my bone density. I was on it for about 10 years. I'm now looking at my muscles wasting away and wonder if it's not too late to go back on it. If my next dexa scan is not good, I will seriously consider it.

This is where I am now...I am just OVER the wild goose chase of specialists. My gyn wants me to see an endocrinologist about my hypothalamus but I just can't bring myself to make the call. OTOH, I feel lousy all the time and the hypothalamus controls so many functions that maybe it needs to be addressed. If only I knew that this doctor is the one that will fix it...

I've always had hormonal issues so I suspect the hypothalamus problem has been there all my life.

I have no kids ( I added the kids comment because I have heard that women that did not have kids could start menopause earlier) and my periods started to change when I was 42. I would have my regular cycle and the a week later I would spot. After a bit of time they would get VERY heavy and finally after a few years I stopped. Also when my periods started to change my pcp also told me that I was not in peri menopause but what do they know? I think we know more then they do when it comes to our bodies.

As far as the vaccine I have heard that ladies were starting their periods after not having them. But who knows what the vaccine could cause. If it can start them again I am sure it could stop them too....

I had my last child at 35 and had a c section and tubal ligation. I feel like the tubal threw me into menopause around 46. I'm 48 and have not had a regular period since 46.

My doctor diagnosed me as "post menopausal" at 44. I was still having periods.....very irregular...but still had some very, very light ones. I had such horrible hot flashes and night sweats. I am 62, now. Thank God those are gone! lol

Same for me as well. Had my last child by 33 and tubes tied. Would that cause menopause earlier than normal ?
I had my periods starting by 12. May be the eggs are all gone and thats why ovulation not happening anymore. Doctor if I am not having any symptoms and if I have had menopause then consider myself as lucky. Don’t know how it is going to go. Hoping for the best . Thank you everyone for the feedback and for sharing your experiences.

I wish I knew or researched more about the possible effects of having your tubes tied. The doctors do not tell you anything! It's crazy to me looking back. I don't regret it, but I should have done more research myself just to know.
