I have a few different plans depending on how I feel and the weather. It looks like it might be the last cool day for a while.

Pat, you inspired me to join AllTrails as a Pro member. I can configure and download trail maps to my Apple watch.

Plus, I ordered some new trekking poles!

You enabler, you!

I will join/participate. I walk daily sometimes twice a day and several times a week I go to our local walking/bike trail that is now part of the Rails to Trails. This trail was the former Great Western Trial. So I will probably do that trail or go to a local Forest Preserve and do a hike tomorrow. I love this idea and anxious to hear where folks go.

I'd like to join, weather permitting, as I think we're getting a lot of rain over the weekend. I have several places I like to walk, so if that's ok, I'll write about more than one trail.

I'm looking forward to reading about everyone's favourite hikes.

Margot - The more the merrier - people, trails, posts, etc. On VF, you're allowed to do challenges your way. And personally, I'd like to read about as many trails as people want to post about.

Margot, any outdoor walking counts! I love reading about the places you walk.

As I mentioned yesterday, this is the trail I walked this morning on my morning walk with my walk buddy. I also took this trail last night with my son. I am a member of Rails to Trails (as well as All Trails) so I look for good biking trails that I can do in the warmer months. I have biked in Indiana and Wisconsin as well as Illinois.

Here is the information about the Great Western Trail.

Enjoy your day on the trails.

The western segment of the Great Western Trail in Illinois follows 17 miles of a former railway corridor through DeKalb and Kane counties, between LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve and the town of Sycamore. Another section of the Great Western Trail is found in DuPage County to the east. The Chicago Great Western Railway (later Chicago and North Western) was called the Corn Belt Route because it linked Chicago, Minneapolis, Omaha, and Kansas City.

I regularly walk in a park but your challenge has me ready to switch it up and try something different in our area.

Thanks for the idea!!!

Pat—this is such a fun thread. Thank you for starting it.

I walked Revere Beach. It’s the oldest public beach in the country, just north of Boston. It’s 2.5 miles long—so 5 miles round trip. It was a nice day, 70 degrees, partly cloudy and breezy. It’s a great place to people watch. There were rollerbladers, cyclists, kite surfers and even a few daring swimmers (the water is only 58 degrees). Not a peaceful trail walk but I’m in the city and had to drive two hours to pick up medicine for my fur baby and really didn’t have the time or desire to drive any further to a trail.

Here’s a website with some photos of the beach.

I am really enjoying reading about everyone’s adventures.

I walked a local bike/walk path/trail. It has dirt sections for horses.

I walked 7 miles! A personal walk record for me. (I've hiked farther, but that was many years ago.)

It was sunny, cool and beautiful out. I saw a baby lizard and a baby hummingbird!

It was cool and rainy here so I did a virtual hike at Ruckle Park on Salt Spring Island. It’s a lovely trail through forest and along the waterfront. SSI has many lovely hikes, it’s a favourite destination of ours in the summer. I did gentle rebounding and gliding on my Maxi Glider (an upscale version of Tony Little’s Gazelle) while I watched.
