This is the first that I heard of what happened. How tragic, and so very sad. My heart goes out to all those who have been affected by this horrible incident.

I hope Marian checks in soon.

This is so sad. I hope that all the VFers who ran the marathon today are okay.

This is absolutely terrible and heartbreaking. I am praying for those affected. There are just no words for who would do something like this.

Evil. That's the word.

Awful. I just came online to check the "who's running Boston" thread to see if anyone reported in their results, and saw the news story. Have a message out to DH's cousin, who lives in Boston and would normally have no reason to be anywhere near the marathon, but I want to make sure.

Prayers to all those affected.

Yep, that's the word.

Did your husband make it home?

This is just so sad and tragic. I was working in NYC during 9/11. This brings that day back so vividly. I heard the FBI was investigating, so they probably think it is a homegrown terrorist like the Okla City bombing. My thoughts are for all those affected.

The timing of the explosions was perfect, whether by design or not, to catch the casual runners, the amateur marathoners, charity runners, etc. It was at 4:09 in the marathon, when the slower runners were coming in. And interestingly, the second bomb was BEHIND the first one on the route, so that if anyone turned around and ran the other way from the first one, they'd be facing the second one.

Someone thought a lot about this. It's appalling. Have we heard from VFers yet??

On edit, I see Marian is the only VFer running, with Genevieve at the mile 7 water stop.... and neither one has checked in. Will be praying!

VF'er KathAl has reported that she is home and safe. She wasn't a runner but she works nearby.
