I am planning on starting a pilates/yoga and cardio routine! My knee may finally be up to doing lower body work.

I've been thinking what do I want to start off with and right now...I think I'm with Shelley on going with the flow. I'd like to return to my goal of 300 days of exercising, but I don't want to be rigid about that. I do want to do something every day and that may mean doing something that I once would have regarded as "not-a-real-workout", i.e., stretching instead of pumping iron, or working out with Ellen Barrett...she works me more than I'd thought she would!!!

What I really need to do is get my eating under control, so I'm working on that. I need to stretch more (flexibility), too. And get more sleep.

Otherwise, like Rose, it's back to basics: cardio one day, strength the next...more or less

1. To do what I like instead of what I feel I "should" do. 2. Consistency. 3. To purge my collection of the things I never should have bought in the first place.

My goal for the first month or so of 2010 is as follows:

Cathes HIIT- 3 times weekly. I always skimp on cardio so I will do it faithfully!

No barre!! Triple eek. I started my BBL rotation this week. I will not do any of my barre work while on BBl. I want to see what it can deliver on it's own. Will update on any improvements! Dare to dream!

That's my #1. Doing anything active on a regular basis will make a huge change from 2009

No plans. Like some other posters, my plan is to be less interested in having a plan. That always seems to fail -- I just love overcommitting and planning rotations! But, I'm going to try to buy fewer dvds (even though there are a bunch I want), and just keep up the same stuff I always do: running (for winter months, on the treadmill), light or occassionally intense dance cardio, barre, yoga, pilates, fusion, and the occasional kickboxing or Leslie walking workout. This has been my routine for a while now -- with emphasis shifting only within these options. I like it, I get great physical/functional and aesthetic results from it, and I'm less likely to overtrain (which is an important consideration for me because I have a tendency to overdo things).

I plan to keep on using barre type workouts. People commented this summer that I look much more toned than usual and I enjoy doing them.

I got Ruah and Pershing Square and have been using exhale core fusion.
I also will do more workouts like Ellen Barrett and just have fun. I workout more when I do workouts I enjoy.

After reading the Jillian thread I ordered the 3 mentioned for $20 on Amazon and will give these a try.

Then I'll throw in Cathe step when I want heavier cardio.
I also do quite a bit of walking as I enjoy being outdoors.

I've never done a rotation and have always "gone with the flow". Did whatever workout I felt like when I woke up.

Well, that hasn't worked for me at all, so for the month of January, I am committing for the first time in my life to follow a rotation for 4 weeks to see if that at least can jump start my goal of losing weight and getting back on track of regular exercise.

I'll be doing Jillian's rotation alternating 5 of her older dvds and 3 newer ones. I'm not a fan of Jillian, but she seems to be producing results, so I'll give it a try for 4 weeks. I can do this, right?
