Oops, I replied to the last thread before seeing the new one - I'm always taken by surprise when we wind up in a new season.

Thanks, difit!

That's okay. Not only do new seasons surprise me, I don't ever know intuitively what day it is!

I am reading Ravenspur, the next book in the series by Conn Iggulden about the War of the Roses. As usual, it's good and I'm keeping track of all the players.

I usually know the day of the week, but I often have to count back to the last date I can recall in order to figure out the current date.

I've been reading the A Court of Thorns and Roses series. I'm on book 4, A Court of Frost and Starlight.
I'm loving this series!

I’m almost finished reading “A Cabin at the end of the world” which is the basis of the M.Night Shyamalan movie “Knock at the cabin” (which we saw a couple of weeks ago).

The book has a different ending than the movie (which is why I decided to read it). I can see why he changed it for the movie because the book is much sadder.

Apparently I bought the Paper Bracelet almost two years ago and never read it! Did you like it?

Did you like the movie? I've always been a fan of Shyamalan and thought this one looked good. Which was better, the book or the movie?

Thank you, marking my spot!

I've just started reading The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot. It involves a woman, a poor tobacco farmer and descendant of slaves, who had surgery for cervical cancer. Without her knowledge the doctors kept cells from her body for research because the tumor was unusual. The cells are "immortal," kept alive in culture, and are still being used to this day for research and development. This book was recommended to me years ago. I'm not sure I'll like it - looks like it involves a lot of science and ethics - but the two chapters I've read so far have been easy enough to digest.

The topic is disturbing to say the least.
