I've had lots of extra reading time since I'm on winter break!

I finished Louise Penny's latest, A World of Curiosities, last week. It was good, but not as good as her previous two books.

I tried Livid, the latest Patricia Cornwell, but couldn't get past the first scene.

I finished The Marsh Queen by Virginia Hartman this morning. This is her first novel and I really liked it.

I'm not sure what I'll read next. I'm looking forward to the next Harlan Coben, which is slated to come out in March.

Ah, good to know -- I saw it was related, but wasn't sure it was necessary to read that first. Thanks!

And by the way.... for California residents, well, probably in reality bay area residents.... I discovered today that the San Francisco library gives free cards to California residents. During the pandemic it could all be done remotely, so that was the time to do it -- now you must present a California ID in person at a library branch. If you're near, it's probably a great thing to do! (then borrow through the libby app). I'm going to do that as soon as I go back to work in January so that I can have more holds! And likely a much larger book selection than the Santa Cruz libraries have.

I wrapped up the week with Verity by Colleen Hoover and The Light Pirate by Lily Brooks-Dalton.

Good info, thanks! I almost never go into the city anymore but worth making a note to see if I can swing by a branch next visit, likely in March for an event at Moscone.
