Crone Cronies - I'm not short! I'm just more down-to-earth than most. March 17

The Cronies is a place for women who are mature in age or attitude. The group is highly diverse in that we have ages ranging from 30s to 60s, some are moms, some are single, some are teachers/professors, and some have jobs and work outside the home and some don’t. We do our own thing and are happy when life doesn’t get in the way too often. Some are training for a marathon, some don’t even do vids, you get the picture.

Life and exercise are what we report. A thread is started every Sunday. Some report every day, others whenever they can.

Bottom line: we are a diverse group and very supportive of each other’s goals. Oh, and we’re funny as heck. If you’d like to join us, just come on down.

Yay! Got the thread started here!

I’ve got another day of travel - northwards today. I’ll be staying up that direction tonight - no idea how good internet may be up there. Have a good day!

Waves to all!

Today has been a pleasant day. We attended church virtually this morning. I'm doing some laundry, unloading some boxes we got in the mail this week, and doing a little cooking. It is a largely warm and sunny day and Polly is taking a long nap inside. She'll probably want to go outside around the time we keep her in this evening.

Anita - Thanks for getting us started this morning despite the internet issues. Have fun going north.

Paula - I hope you had a pleasant day today as well (since we seem to be living similar days)...

Good evening. Workout this morning was 1st half of my PT routine followed by a cardio/tone workout with Pahla B and a chair yoga stretch with Sarah Starr.

Anita, hope you’re having a good time. Thanks for getting us started in spite of spotty internet. Good theme – I can relate. I worked in an office once where I was referred to as “the munchkin”. I hadn’t thought 5’4” was that short, but in that office it was.

Laura, we had nice weather here too. DH and I went to the boat and just putzed and went out to lunch. A nice lazy day.

This morning, I did stuff like clean up Polly's room and clean out the dishwasher, and help DH call his pain doctor to try to get an appointment for a consultation soonetc. This afternoon, I went over to Mom and Dad's and hung out for a couple of hours.

It was cooler here today, high in the high 50s. We are experiencing a pollen bomb and a lot of people (and cats) are suffering a lot of symptoms.

Paula - Hopefully, you had another good day today and a good start to your week.

Good evening. Workout this morning was Travis Eliot Full Body Yin Yoga.

I was supposed to have lunch with friends but that got cancelled when one friend texted this morning that she had woken up with a bad cold.

So I had a day at home. Got some housework done, some gardening done, some paperwork done and some baking done. I baked two loaves of multigrain bread and a blueberry brickle coffee cake. Of course, as soon as I got done trimming plants and watering them it started raining – sigh.

Laura, we’re not having a pollen bomb but allergy season here is still bad enough. I hope your DH got his pain appointment. Glad you were able to spend some time with your mother and father.

Ugh, I can't believe how time just disappears! It's been even longer than I thought since I posted last. I find myself composing posts in my head when we walk and then just never actually typing them up. :forehead slap:

It's really been a good month so far. We played D&D on the 10th, I spent several hours over lunch with an old friend on the 11th, spent the whole day at the Mall of America with a different friend this past Saturday. My steps counts got pretty high the end of last week and I think it triggered my RLS as my legs were so bad for a few nights. I decided to take it easier on Sunday and celebrated St. Paddy's Day cooking and enjoying yummy food, reading, and playing games on my phone, just chilling out with hubby and Cyric. Evidently it's what I needed bc my legs have calmed down and I woke up yesterday ready to take on the day!

Apparently now that spring is here on the calendar, winter has decided to show up in reality. We've had snow flurries and cooler temps recently, along with wind. Last week when I ran on Wednesday it was 67 degrees at 2 PM and then Friday it was 50 at 2:30 PM and more windy. It felt cooler than 50. I think today is supposed to be the warmest day this week with a high of 54. I don't mind the cooler temps at all, I just don't like the wind. I've decided 30s-50s is my ideal running temps.

Anita, I hope your trip is still going well. I would love to see penguins again! Of course, I've only seen them at the zoo.

Laura, hope your hubby's pain can be better controlled soon. Polly is such a cute kitty (in your avatar). My allergies haven't kicked in but my sinuses are still all haywire.

Paula, blueberry brickle coffee cake sounds delicious! I made an Irish tea cake Sunday. I like it. It's not as sweet as a regular cake. But it's a little drier, I think. As some reviewers said, it's more along the lines of a shortcake. We had berries on it.

Another great title this week! At 5'2" I've always known I was short. My brother is somewhere around 6'2" and his sons are just as tall (one is taller, actually). Coworkers saw a picture of my brother and me after a mud run and they said we looked like a giant and an elf. I was telling my chiropractor last week that any time I fall I'm thankful I'm short so it's not that far to the ground!

Good evening!

I’m still in Chile - now in the city of Puerto Natales. I’ve been keeping busy all of these days - today was kayaking in a water inlet - very beautiful and peaceful, but cold and rainy also. Saw lots of swans and ducks - different breeds from what we have here. Luckily they had us dressed in waterproof clothing for canoeing that kept us warm with our activity. Then we went to a ranch here and had a roasted lamb for lunch and saw their business looking at their sheep facilities and wool production, then their special horses that work with cattle - very impressive.

Yesterday we hit a large national park and saw lots of animals and scenery - we did several miles hiking. That pretty much took up most of the day. Otherwise, great meals at restaurants.

Tomorrow will be another early start day - we’ll be going horseback riding, then traveling back to the city we flew into down here for catching a flight to Santiago in two more sleeps.

Laura, sounds like you’ve had several good days taking care of stuff at home. Looking at my Saint Paul weather forecast looks like cold and snow showers are coming later this week !

Paula, I think we share our shortness - I used to be 5’5” now I’m about 5’3”. Not fun. With the cold and snow blast coming, it’s hard to predict what will happen as far as pollen as lots of things are preparing to bloom right now and might get killed by the frost.

Vantreesta, you’ve been a busy woman! Lots of workouts reported . Eeeek on the snow showers! I hope there’s no shoveling due and that my neighbor will do my sidewalk as promised. The penguins I saw a few days ago were out on the land just hanging out for a while. The land wasn’t the snow and ice I usually think of them being around, but just gravel and grass. Chile is a bit weird in that people own the properties and not the government for most parks - the people owning the property opened a sighting spot for the penguins to take care of them safely (and charge visitors money ). There were some penguin babies at that colony ranging in size from a softball size to about 2 feet high - all born this summer and all will be in good enough condition to make their migration later this fall. We share tall brothers - mine is 6’4”!

Waves to all!

Today was a busier day. This morning, I had an appointment at my rheumatologist to discuss medication options. I was on Remicade for years and it worked well. Then, a generic came out and I switched to that because insurance wouldn't cover Remicade. As of April 1, they will start charging more than insurance covers for that medication (by $450 per infusion). So now, we need to figure out what comes next. The doctor's office is going to appeal to go back to Remicade. If they don't allow that, there is another medication I can switch to. It's all like a medical soap opera.

This afternoon, I had a Target food delivery go bad. It was marked delivered, but it wasn't at my house. Long story short, it was left at my parents' house that I had accidently marked as the address. Plus, Dad got the results of an MRI he had done last Friday. He has spinal stenosis and a herniated disc in his lower back. They are referring him to a spine specialist. He's just happy to have a diagnosis and a next step to take.

Then in the late afternoon, we finally saw Polly. All day, she slept in a bag in my craft room. It was a beautiful day, so we knew she felt bad today. She came out and we realized something was wrong with her eye. We took her into the vet and she had scratches in both eyes and maybe some infection. We now need to put eye drops in her eyes 3 times a day. (Cue maniacal laughter!) We'll see how THAT goes.

I need to go work with DH to get eye drops in her eyes, so I'll do shoutouts tomorrow. Have a good night/day!
