If you do kettlebells, what does your rotation look like?

Hey there!

Been enjoying my kettlebell journey but am curious as to what people who regularly use them do on other days. In fact, I have been having so much fun swinging these bells, I haven't done much of anything else except for mobility and a little pilates.

Do any of you do step aerobics? Kickboxing? Bodyweight cardio? Love to hear rotation ideas

I feel great and don't want to overdo. But I also hate to not do any of my other DVDs, lol.

Thanks for your input!

I want to combine kettlebells with barre, but want to make sure I am getting enough strength and cardio. I am brand new to both so was thinking Skogg and Linda Wooldridge for barre.

I bet that would pair well. I just wish I enjoyed barre.

Your avatar though...😂

That IS a very cute avatar!! Linda, that's part of my issue with kettlebells.... for me it's always a bit tough to figure out a rotation of *just* kettlebells. Maybe randomly pick three kettlebell workouts to do in the week and on the other days do some straight cardio or yoga?

Bee Right now I'm doing kettlebells four days a week but will probably bump down to three so I can add other stuff in.

Maybe twice a week is enough too.

Clearly, I'm undecided!

Oh, Bubbles! LOVE your new avatar but it took me a minute to realize it was you. I'm so accustomed to seeing Tiny Bubble.

I’ll chime in on my thoughts because I have been combining kettlebells with Barre3.

I am a member of Lauren’s Playground and have never looked back. I’m 50 and have to be careful to not over do it. Lauren offers many programs that are strength based which is what I have been doing. I can’t combine the conditioning workouts because that’s too much.

I’m adapting Debra Atkinson’s philosophy of 2 days of strength per week, with a minimum of 2 days rest (from weights) in between

Sun - barre 3
Mon - strength/kettlebells
Tues - rest or yoga
Wed - can do a kettlebell conditioning workout here if wanted
Thurs - rest
Fri - strength/kettlebells
Sat - barre 3

Sue,
Thanks for chiming in. I like your schedule ALOT.

My concern is about maintaining my cardio capacity/ability.

Has following that routine impacted/lowered your ability?

Not at all. The barre 3 workouts are all cardio based. I did a BeSLAM kettlebell strength workout yesterday and there’s no doubt there was a cardio component to it. If your body can handle the intensity I would do the Mon, Fri kettlebell strength workouts. Wed do a more conditioning focused bell workout and fill in around it with your barre. HSM and barre 3 have plenty of cardio to them as well.

Well I was thinking of doing kickboxing or step but using that basic framework you have.

But I definitely get my HR up with my kettlebell workouts.

Thanks!
