IT Band pain mitigation
for the past 2 months, I developed pain in my left hip. I'm pretty sure it has a lot to do with my gait, my posture, and carrying a heavy backpack to work, and I walk about 1 mile into the office carrying this thing.
what helped: Paul Grilley's Yin Yoga Hip Series - tipping my pelvis up when I would notice discomfort was something Paul mentioned about when doing the dragon pose; I noticed instant relief! Karen Voight Yoga Power Stretching segment (20 min or so) foot reflexology video (3 min) - How to Relieve Hip & Knee Pain | Reflexology pretzel from Callanetics/barre people rave about using the foam roller which I did a little of, but I only did this for maybe 1 session - Keli Roberts' foam roller DVD workout. it was OK, and I know you have to do it often to knead out the pain, but I wanted to focus on strengthening the muscles around it which were weak.
