1999 Tom Holland Total Body Workout

(This is a good no-nonsense workout. I was mainly interested in the strength portions.)
After reading your post, I found one of Tom's workouts on YouTube. I like his style -simple, but effective moves. I don't have too many cardio/weight workouts with male instructors, so that's a plus too.

I can't believe I have enough dvds to complete a 20 no instructor repeat and that they were dustbunnies/virgins to boot.

This 20 day challenge has inspired me to finish off the rest of my dustbunny/virgin pile. August and September will be Metrx 180 and Gin's ramp workouts. October and maybe November will be JNL Fusion.

Anyhoo, this workout didn't really click with me until the last exercise, so I'll reach for it on occasion when I'm burnt on my other core workouts
Congratulations!
I also have some virgins left :-) I might do another similar weekend challenge in the future after the retro weekend challenge. Good luck with your rotations!

Day 19

Natalie Spadaccino: Joyful Movement Cardio

Today I dusted off Joyful Movement and gathered stars with Natalie & Darcy. This 30 minute workout has a lot to offer. Jessica & Leslie are going to have to make some room for Natalie :-)

The workout is only 30 minutes. It does a good job incorporating cardio, spinal movement, balance and coordination. It doesn't get your heart rate up enough to turn your face beet red; but, it made me sweat, and I feel better for having done it. Oddly enough, it was easier for me to follow along after not having done it for a couple of years. Definitely a keeper.

Day 19

Shelly McDonald Caribbean Workout (Stretch into Yoga) Basic Yoga.

I took yesterday off. Was feeling some hip pain and needed the time off.

This is a Dustbunny workout as I'm sure I've done it, at some point. It has three short programs, but it is paired with a Core Yoga workout which I've never tried. Will save that for another time.

Shelly is good in this, very calm with good instruction. It's gentle yoga filmed outdoors on a patio, maybe. I will have to try the other sections but I expect they're good, too. One is a a Flex yoga, and another is Strength yoga. Will likely keep these, as they're short and suitable for lighter yoga days!

DAY 19 (July 31, 2021) virgin
YT:
1990's (?) Gay Gasper - Fat Burner (28m)

ZDancerLiz - Oldies 1 Low Impact Dance Fitness (30m) non-virgin, but fun for me

I've never done the Gay Gasper Fat Burner (originally on VHS only) that I found on YT, but it's a nice traditional aerobic dance workout from the 1990s. There were too many fussy arm movements and I modified them. The workout was easy to follow sans the fussy arms.

I only noticed this week that Tom Holland has workouts on YT. Besides his Total Body and Abs Workouts, he has a few short Bowflex workouts as well. I may try them next time. He's much older in the Bowflex workouts, but his exercise style looks the same.

Hi Anita! I may continue into August with you. Maybe not 20 instructors, but definitely virgins

Vannie, we all need a rest day or two. Be kind to your body.

Day 17 - Jane Fonda Complete Workout. I did the whole thing, all in one go. Can I just comment how utterly awesome this workout is as a complete mood lifter? From the claymation Jane doll that greets you in the beginning, to the incredibly 80's retro outfits and hair, to the mostly jazzy music (which I happen to like), to the porn moans and puppy yips throughout, to yes, that turkey dance that someone decided had to make the final cut, I loved every last minute of this workout. Normally, only Cathe and Jari can convince me that hour workouts are a good idea, but I would do this workout again tomorrow. I consider this a light weights workout, meaning there are not enough reps or sets to get your ripped, but enough that you can definitely say, "I did a workout." I doubt I'll be sore tomorrow, except for my abs from laughing. It's just plain fun!

Great! I'll hold off a bit - Is Karla re-starting this challenge for August? If not, I'll post something later.
I'm still working summer camp; will be on my feet for the next 12 days. So likely my first entries will all be yoga-related!

Yes, I love the older retro workouts, and I'm just starting to rediscover some of them. They're so straightforward. I think they're safe and effective. It seems like some of the newer workouts go at a frantic pace and it's easier to get injured if you're not paying exact attention to form. Please let me know your thoughts on the retro challenge -see below.

I thought it would be fun to do one theme workout for either a week or weekend per month. Not sure what most people would want time-wise. A week will give more opportunities for everyone to do a retro workout in the challenge.

I was going to try to do a retro challenge (for the month of August) after the 10th of August since I have company coming and it will be difficult to workout.

Any thoughts on if you're interested, and if the challenge should be for a week or weekend? I worry that some might think that they'd have to do retro the whole week instead of just one or two and then not join in the challenge.

I hope that people will continue this different instructor challenge as long as they are enjoying themselves!

Day 20

Tracy Anderson Method Post Pregnancy Workout

I discovered this on YouTube this morning. Tracy has a lot of good ab work, and she doesn't have a ton of leg lifts either, Yahoo! Those endless leg lifts turned me off some of her workouts. There was a nice arm section at the end, but it's not as difficult as her Mat workout. The only thing I didn't like was all the talk about babies, but then it is a post pregnancy workout :-)

Cool! I started a new thread for August for those that want to continue using different instructors / virgins / dustbunnies: http://forum.videofitness.com/showthread.php?t=231512

DAY 20 (August 1, 2021) virgin
YT:
2020 BalletFit (Parts 1, 2, 3) with Christi Taylor (my 20th instructor!)

I just found this on YT -- it was filmed in May 2020 in her backyard. I enjoyed most of the workout -- some of the exercises with the stability ball were awkward for me. However, I enjoyed the upper body workout (5 lb dumbbells) and the lower body (ballet moves with a chair/body bar for balance). Christi performs the workout with her back to the camera. There's barely a peep from Christi -- she uses visual cues and her workout is fairly easy to follow. Christi's adorable dog also makes an appearance.

I had to check it out once you mentioned the adorable dog :-) It took some doing to find it. It didn’t come up in my search of Christi Taylor. I had to go into her video list. I like it when instructors keep talk to a minimum -especially when you do the workout often. This looks good!
