Hello Watulans!

Today I did CL #113 Boxing, HiiT Blasts and Core & #114 Cross Fire Quick Fix Plus Core. Full disclosure, I just did core yesterday and the day before so no core for me today. I only have a few more days in 2Lazy's rotation. I think I will plan a 20 instructors 20 days rotation after this.

bee, I think I wasn't clear in my comment about the lower body work. I meant that the Cathe Lives had more lower body workouts overall, not that 2Lazy's rotation had more lower body work. IMHO the rotation I'm doing has way too much core in it, at least way more than seems to work for me. Too much core work just pushes out my menopooch, and I can tell my abs are solid under that layer. Oh, and LOL about the Weezer song at the concert. Glad they read the room and went back to what was popular.

Kim, our older cat has never been a lap cat, but lately I've been staying up a little later and he has settled on my lap for a cuddle. He has waited until I'm just about ready to go to bed to do it, so the other night I was up until 1am since I didn't want to move him! He doesn't stay for long, just long enough to get his fill, and I cherish the time since he doesn't do it often. All that to say I get making accommodations for our furry babies.

BabyW, bee may be on to something with Gilad and his pants.

Waves all around!

Well, he did get in close for the photo.

FoLV - Oh jeez, I didn't see your new avatar until it was pointed out. Very cool!

Kim - Nice that you got Finley to snuggle. I had a cat years ago who was very skittish and fearful. She took 9 years to come and lie on my stomach. She would only lie with me in bed.

Workout: Yesterday, I did Debbie Seibers' Body Dynamix R&R.

Waves to Watulans!

This was way back around 2004. We were both younger then!

I remember the days of cats being on the lap and being unable to get up as a result! We had four cats at one point, and there were many times I had at least three of them if not on me, surrounding me. Awwwwww!!!

BabyW, thanks for posting that picture! It's great -- I agree, you are very photogenic!

cataddict, oh, I get it now. And yes, there can be a thing as too much ab work!! Funny, this morning I was eating my words about Bob's workout not working the legs so much -- I felt them! I don't really get it because they were hardly even weighted.... just squats and lunges, but there were really fast ones, there were holds, and there were plyos, so I guess it all added up!

Today I wanted some steady state cardio so I did the no blasts premix of Low Max and thought about Chele since she steered me to it at one point. Chele, you are the queen of step -- not feeling that way right now, but that is how I think of you.
I followed that with a new instructor..... an Inner Dimension yoga with Mychal who had a man bun that I couldn't ignore. It was like a train wreck that made me keep looking. But.... a great yoga practice!! I can't remember the name but it was 45 minutes and had "balance" in the title.

Waves, waves.......

I am really appreciating all the standing ab work, the floor work, the metabolic feel, the PT-inspired exercises, the countdown timer, Debbie's goofiness and likeability, just everything, more than I ever have! Even the workouts in the set I wasn't formerly very fond of I've come to really like as I feel like I 'get' them now and see how well designed they are.
kittybug ^^ that's exactly what I think about the slim workouts...the set , the goofball Kevin, the elevator music...none of that bothers me. Great workouts! I didn't sign up for the Cathe road trip....just so much I'm not sure about.

kim I lurv me some Nashville. You Betta let me know when you swing by because we gotta hang on Broadway when you do! The Ryman has a wonderful ambiance and everyone who plays there just seems even better because of the intimacy of the venue. P.S. I have two working VCRs. I love how you can have the VHS cued up past the piracy warnings.

cataddict I wanna come to your Goodwill and organize it....shelves and shelves of DVDs you say?? Be still my heart!!

BabyW I'm glad you're posting despite the obstacles. Keep us posted on the specialist. You cracked me up telling me what Gilad said.

bee you can't miss getting a good workout with SUAT. I'm doing it on the same day as another VFer. Was happy to read your concert was fun! My husband's idea of dancing is a cross between Eddie Money's body jerks and general boot stomping. Trust me..there's no better way to describe it

And I don't remember who asked but yes, I'm hiking. I have a big hike (11 miles roundtrip, 2700' elevation gain, 6000' height) scheduled in mid August and I have been preparing. Yesterday I hiked at high noon with a full backpack so I could get used to the weight. Previously I have been hiking trying to mimic the elevation I will have. My husband isn't coming on the big hike because it is too much for him. But he's been a real trooper and going on my training hikes. When you are used to exercising in the AC it's a transition to hike in the heat. So far so good. It's a bucket list thing for me...I may not ever do another long hike. It is nice exploring the beautiful trails in TN and discovering something enjoyable for me and my husband to do together (that's exercise to boot!)

Be fierce and feisty manley, lavna, ChelePA and horusosiris!!

Hi Team Watulan!

Speaking of teams, anyone else watching the Olympics? They have been really good! Tonight is the finals of women's gymnastics. The GOAT didn't have a great night during semi-finals, but even with her "off" night she blew the doors off everyone else. Hence, that's why she's the GOAT. Swimming has also been great. Lots of REALLY tight races, with some unexpected wins. That's the excitement about swimming - they can win or lose by 1/100th of a second. Crazy! Anyway, loving watching these incredible athletes! I told hubby they could do Cathe on their rest days!

Going back a ways to catch up:

Bee thanks for the mattress tip. Didn't even think the supply chain would be affected by Covid, but I'm not surprised. Everything else has been so that makes sense. Hubby had to take his truck to the dealership this morning and they didn't have any loaners. They sold them during Covid since used cars were in such high demand because car manufacturers didn't have the chips for new cars. Crazy the trickle down effect. I'm glad you have a little bit more time with your boys. Sweet times. Glad your concert was fun! I know it felt good being out and about - dancing and singing and having fun.

VVfer thanks for the heads up about Leslie. Sounds like I might stay away. I really like Daniel from BP too! I don't think he's too chatty during the workout. In fact, I think he's encouraging. It just seemed like he got more amped up during the cool down but I think that's just him being encouraging and motivating. His workouts have been fun and I like the music. Cool pic of you and Gilad!

ChelePA I just groaned when I read your insurance company dropped you! That is terrible and just wrong! Seems like more and more insurance tries to ding you more than help. I've experienced this and know others have too. Seems like you always have to fight them about things or they won't cover something. Hang in there friend. You are a fighter and will get through this. Lots of prayers and hugs sent your way.

KateTT I hope things are getting better for you. You have a lot on your plate but face the hardships of life with a smile. You are not going to let circumstances get you down or hold you back. And job security is right. That's what I'm thinking as my summer ends and I'm about to hit the ground running at full speed.

FLOV I'm going to call you Mama Watulan! You do such a good job taking care of all of us! I foam rolled yesterday and have been doing stretching/mobility moves everyday. I also like the new avatar and think it's great you're doing the hike! Sounds like a challenge but you will feel so accomplished afterwards. Sounds like great quality time with your hubby as ya'll explore the trails. TN would have beautiful trails. It's a beautiful state. I remember passing through on a road trip in the fall and seeing the early morning fog on the beautiful hills. So green, tons of trees.

Cataddict agree that summer produce is a treat! Hubby has several co-workers growing their own produce (beans, peppers, tomatoes, squash, etc. Growing up we had a family garden that was several acres, and we grew pretty much everything. I hated getting up early in the morning to pick because there was so much to pick and it was hot and muggy and I had to be careful of fire ants - the usual garden woes - but I appreciate the memories now. Nothing tastes better than fresh fruits and veggies straight from the garden. I still remember picking and eating peaches straight off the tree and having the juice running down my arm and dripping off my elbow. There is a difference between fresh from the garden and sprayed from the store.

Kittybug you are making me want to pull out my Slim Series dvds. You are killing it! Glad your back held up for Perfect 30 and that you're seeing results with SS. It's nice to have a new appreciation for something and finally get how they're supposed to work and it all just clicks.

Kim we've talked about wanting to go to Nashville too. Everyone that I've talked to that has been there loved it. Keep us posted if ya'll decide to go. And I still have a VCR player too. It's a combo VCR/DVD player. I kept it for my one and only VCR tape that I still own (but haven't done in years) Firm Strength with Pam. I used to LOVE this workout! Glad ya'll had a fun time catching up with family and friends you haven't seen in awhile. It's so nice to reconnect.

Now the workouts:
No Fun Friday for me last week so Saturday I doubled up and did Leah Sarago's Ballet Body Upper Body + Body Project Fat burning beginner low impact home cardio workout - all standing. I only used 2 lbs for Leah's workout, but really focused on my form and really squeezing/using my muscles and no momentum. I've never gone this light with barre-type workouts but I think it worked. I used to use 3 or 5 lbs but going to 2 lbs and really focusing on the move made a difference. I really liked the Body Project workout. It was fun, had good music, and he is very likeable and encouraging. I've enjoyed the workouts of his I've done so far. I ended with
Yoga with Joelle 10-Minute Supine Routine for Hip Bursitis & Hip Pain - Trochanteric Bursitis Exercises and Stretches, which felt good.
Sunday was Olympic Max. In keeping with 20 instructors in 20 days, I did Gin Miller Simply Endurance workout yesterday. I liked the variety of moves, she goes slow enough to really feel the moves. And it's really easy to modify depending on the weight selection. I liked that she said “volunteer those abs”. Just nice hearing a different instructors perspective. This was a really good workout. I finished with 5 Parks Yoga Deep Release for the Lower Body Yoga Class which felt good.

So I'm halfway in my 20 instructors in 20 days rotation. I'm thinking there will be some Amy Dixon, Tracie Long, Jen Edwards (new to me), Kari Anderson (also new to me), Christi Taylor, KCM in my near future. That leaves 4 more. Maybe Debbie? Maybe Kristin Dowell? Maybe a new YT instructor? Or I could do someone I've done within my 20 days but also add a stretch or yoga that I haven't done within my 20 days. Dunno. Today will probably be cardio since I did Gin Miller yesterday. My hip flexor is on the mend, but still not 100% so I'm going to stay with low impact and be careful of step.

Gotta run for now! Hugs and waves everyone!

Oh..... MamaW is perfect for Linda! Yes, that's what I'm sticking with. MamaW, your hike sounds great! So you will camp and all. Thanks to BabyW (and her pointer to youtube Camino videos), I am busily exploring US "inn to inn" walks -- I'm not so hot on the camping at this point. Turns out there are some alternatives. Has anyone ever done the Ohio canal walk? I'm thinking about that -- my husband could ride his bike -- I mean, we could both do bikes, but quite honestly I'd rather walk. I hate the way my bottom feels after a long bike ride. There are some shorter trips right in my own "back yard" of northern CA, so I'm excited about doing that sort of thing as an empty nester.

MamaW, did I tell you that I lived in Brentwood when I was in junior high? I can't remember. I went back to Nashville a couple of years ago to check out Vanderbilt for my first son. He really liked it, but..... didn't get in. (not hugely surprising -- it's quite competitive)

manleym, I like reading about your 20 instructors -- you've got some great ideas. I knew I'd be hiking later today but did want to get some lower body work in, so I did a bit of a growingananas warm up followed by Squeeze Lower Body Challenge. I remember she doesn't do much of a warm up so had to add one in. Interesting observation about your Leah workout and the lighter weights. It is interesting how much a move can feel different if you really put your brain into it.

Oh, hubby is driving me nuts right now talking on the phone. I have to go to a different part of the house. Wave, wave.

ETA: clarified what I meant about BabyW and the hiking videos......

MamaW, yessssss!!!! FOLV, you have a new name Your hiking sounds awesome (and fierce!!)! Oh, and YESSSS on goofball Kevin and Ashley's, um, form. My favorite background pair of the set is Troy and Sandra. Troy has such a fun personality and good rapport with Debbie.

Manleym, just really quick...I'm going to steer you away from including Debbie in your rotation while your hip flexor is wonky. I would not recommend her until you're entirely 100 percent better. Slim Series can be hard on hip flexors with her endless knee-ups, kicks in all directions, squats, lunges, side leg lifts, and so on. Just FYI!!

BabyW, that is a GREAT pic of you and Gilad (and ahem, yep, that comment!!).

I love the cat stories too because our four-cat household is the same way! The other day, I saw my husband reaching down for a blanket from the side table cubby while he was sitting on the couch because the overhead fan can get kind of drafty at night. When he pulled his hand away empty, I raised my eyebrows and asked if his little princess was on the blanket, to which he sheepishly nodded. He was NOT going to disturb her, nope. Yep, we both have SUCKER written in huge neon cat-speak letters on our foreheads and they. all. know. it.

Waves to all, drive-by post...stay fierce, my friends!!!
