I'm still doing Insomnia Max.

I did a TBP on Friday. Yesterday, I did the brand-spanking-new Gilad cardio on YouTube. Now, I have achieved the goal of working out with someone older than I. (Only by a year or so). I met him at a fitness convention ages ago. He's handsome but a bit of a smartass.

Waves to Watulans!

Happy Sunday, Watulans!

Boy I've got catching up to do! First, the workouts. I'm still dealing with pain and following my own 'Slim Training' rotation with the Slim Series which looks like this:
Sun: Tear It Up
Mon: Firm It Up
Tues: Tone It Up
Weds: Mix It Up
Thurs: Shape It Up
Fri: Some kind of cardio plus Cool It Off, Slim and Limber, or other stretching workout. Two Fridays ago I did Cathe's Perfect HIIT, the half low/half high/bonus HIIT premix without a step. This past Friday I did the opposite premix, half high/half low/bonux HIIT premix with just the platform, which my back tolerated pretty well! I really love her Perfect 30 set.

I'm headed onto week four (I think?) of this rotation and definitely going to stick with it until the new Cathe's arrive as I feel like they're doing wonderful things for me (that they never did before??? ). I am really appreciating all the standing ab work, the floor work, the metabolic feel, the PT-inspired exercises, the countdown timer, Debbie's goofiness and likeability, just everything, more than I ever have! Even the workouts in the set I wasn't formerly very fond of I've come to really like as I feel like I 'get' them now and see how well designed they are.

Oye, ChelePA, do you mean your health insurance dropped you??? Is there any kind of PIP or bodily injury happening through the auto insurance or...?? This is making me furious either way. Insurance should NOT be leaving you high and dry. How is your daughter doing? How are YOU doing? Oh, and as far as the PTSD, please be gentle and patient with yourself as that is sooooo normal. I was in a near-fatal car accident as a kid, and oh, the PTSD stories I could tell. Big hugs to you!!

Horusosiris, I wondered if you'd signed up for the road trip as I thought you might be kind of close. I too would probably be hesitant even if I lived close, to be honest.

Baby, sorry about the smoke on your trip. We've had such bad air quality with smoke due to all the fires surrounding us lately. Insomnia Max is the WORST. Is it the stress of an impending move, do you think?

FOLV, I love your new avatar!!! So...did you sign up for the road trip?

Bee, how was your concert? I miss live music so much. My husband has bought us tickets to a couple of events coming up in October. We'll see how that goes.

Manleym, your husband sounds like my husband but I too don't think you have 'take it easy' in your vocabulary, based on the workouts you're doing!! How is that hip flexor?? Congrats and kudos to you for 27 years of teaching. Phew, that's a lot!!!

Oh, Kate...I agree that you should ask about an extension for your teacher training. You have SO much going on, surely they would understand that??

Kim, you still have a VHS player? I'm sorta jealous! I love thrift workouts, can't beat the deal! You and Manleym reminded me I should venture to the library and thrift stores, you know, when I get a moment to breathe, which feels rare these days.

FN2, I feel you on the tough mental weeks lately and I'm sending HUGE fuzzy hugs your way from my crew to yours!!

Waves to Nathalie, Garrie (did we lose Garrie again?), and did I miss anyone? Waves to anyone I missed and my apologies...I'm a tad scattered these days. Hugs to all, and stay fierce!!

Hello Watulans!

Here's the workouts I've done this week: Live #319 Low Impact Cardio Sweat and Core; #328 Boxing HiiT Express; #128 Smokin' Lower Body; #115 Shredded Upper Body with Stability Ball, and Kat's Power Step #1 as part of my CFF (Chele Fun Friday). Good stuff! I've noticed as I've been substituting some of the "haven't done" Cathe Lives for the ones I've done in 2Lazy's rotation that Cathe does a lot more with the lower body, at least in the earlier Lives. It's not a problem, just an observation as there are SO many to choose from of all shapes and sizes! I liked the Kat workout, and since it was done so early I can see the "evolution" in her cuing and in syncing the music with the movements. This one didn't always match the movements with the music with the precision I've seen in the later workouts, but not such a major issue that I couldn't follow and adjust.

We are still getting a small but steady supply of beans and what appears to be the last of the tomatoes are ripening. We took a drive this week to our favorite farm market and got some local cantaloupe and corn and both are delicious! We plan on making another trip this week and buying extra so I can blanch and freeze some for the winter. They usually shut down their stand sometime in August once they have harvested all the corn. Summer produce is such a treat!

The smoke from the wildfires has reached us. It's faint but noticeable. It's so distressing to think that fires completely across the country are affecting the opposite coast. I can't imagine how hard it is on all those living in close proximity.

Chele, so happy to see you posting more often and telling us about your progress. Your family has really been through so much and still going through it! Just a thought, but maybe your daughter has a friend that might want to be a companion for awhile during the day to get you both situated and be your legs?

BabyW, sorry you have been having insomnia! Nothing makes my day harder than a lack of sleep, and I am lucky that I haven't had chronic issues with it at this point. I'm sure you've tried all the recommended tips and tricks, so I'm sending hugs and virtual sheep for you to count.

horusosiris, I am definitely an east coaster as well, so I appreciate where you are coming from in your choice of where to move. DH has lived in the midwest and the mid south and south, but I've always lived east of the Mississippi in various places from Connecticut to Florida. It would be hard to move to a completely different part of the country---even the change in time zone could mess with my head! I wish I had known about the 3pm CL Birthday Bash---I can handle a workout at 3pm, whereas I don't know that 9:30 is in my workout wheelhouse.

bee, your concert evening sounds fun! DH isn't a dancer either, but I love him anyway. I understand your hesitancy at the crowds. DH has started wearing his mask again at his workplace, as he found out when he went back that a number of his colleagues with whom he works closely with haven't been vaccinated and of course cases of the Delta variant are on the rise. There was an outbreak among the staff not too long ago.

Kate, you've picked some great Cathe Lives! I've only done one of them that uses the barre, but they are on my radar. So many to do! I should count to see how far I've progressed in my quest to do them all, but I would guess maybe a third of them. There are so many great choices---the best subscription deal out there, IMHO! Not that I'm enabling or anything.

manleym, wow, I'm impressed by all the years of teaching! I can't imagine how tough this past year+ has been! Good for you and thank you for doing such a vitally important job!! I was puzzled when you said summer was almost over then realized that your school year starts much earlier than ours. We don't start here until after Labor Day---it's a state law originally designed so the tourist industry could keep it's summer labor pool available through the holiday. Not sure how well it's working this year, however, since there are a ton of worker shortages at the hotels, restaurants and entertainment venues like theme parks. Anyway the teachers here have a bit longer until they go back.

Kim, fun that you are finding treasures at the thrift store! Our local Goodwill tosses VHS tapes but does have DVDs. However, they are not really arranged in any order and I didn't have the patience to go through 8 bookshelves of video packed almost to the ceiling. I haven't checked some of the other thrifts but that would be a fun adventure. Not that I need any more workouts to choose from!

FN1, how's your back? Thinking of you---post when you get a chance. I understand being super busy. Sending your way!

FOLV, get the bells ready! Chele definitely deserves them!

Waves to Nathalie and to Garrie, wherever you are!

Not bad.

I had joked with him about all the middle-aged droolers that must always be asking him to take off his shirt. He said, "Not my shirt. My pants." LOL!

kittybug - My sleep hasn't been great for years. It is worse now due to assorted stuff. My main stressor is the botched cataract surgery I had last April. I'll be seeing a specialist the first week of August. I'm not the best typist to start with and, since the surgery, my reading is not so good with my right eye.

I have to apologize for my short posts. Maybe it wasn't the best time to join a check-in. But, I'm very glad to be with the Watulans as I need to be fierce.

You have nothing to apologize for, just do you!! We're glad you're here. Not glad about the botched surgery though. Hope the specialist can help you!

LOL I would never have the nerve to ask him to take off his pants!!

No worries about not posting like Moby here. You are welcome to post when and how much you can! I seem to let time slip away and play catch up rather than post every day or two with shorter epistles.

I read about your botched eye surgery. I'm so sorry you are going through this. Also hoping, like my posting twin, FN1, that the specialist will be able to help!

Hello Watulans!

BabyW (I like the "W" addition!), I think Gilad was trying to get into YOUR pants! I also hope you'll get good info from a specialist and as others have said, no need to apologize! We are happy to have you here.

Linda, you are making me want to pull out SUAT..... and since I'm doing the 20/20 rotation (which may end up being 40/30, who knows?!), I think I will!! Like your new avatar! Have you been doing some hiking?

Kim, isn't it crazy when you think you're pulling out an "easier" workout and it's every bit as hard as the hard stuff you're used to?

kittybug, I think what Chele meant about the insurance is that they told her she could have no more home nursing care since she's able to get in and out of the car by herself. They do that. So frustrating when Chele clearly needs more help still. I love cataddict's idea about getting one of the daughter's friends in for a bit. Seems like that could really help if it's someone with their act together and a natural care taker, you know? I'm sorry to hear that you too were involved in a near fatal car accident. Yikes!

Oh! I meant to comment that I saw the Cathe birthday clip on instagram and it looked like it must have been so much fun!!

cataddict, so the lower body observation..... do you think 2lazy designed it that way on purpose? Today I did Bob's Pure Strength and noticed that it seemed pretty light on lower body. That's just one workout obviously, but it got me thinking about lower body and how I probably ought to make my next strength workout be completely lower body.

manleym, yes indeed, that is a long haul with teaching. Thank goodness we have people like you! We also go back in about mid-August here in my area, but growing up we were post-Labor Day as cataddict mentioned. Our neighborhood always had a giant labor day party and I'm sure the parents were so psyched that the kids would be going back to school.

The concert and dancing were so much fun last night! Crowd was much more spread out than I thought it would be. Maybe a bunch of people were no shows -- I didn't actually make a count but tried to sort of guesstimate. It was a great cover band, so many fun songs for dancing. An older crowd, for sure -- we were all dancing and singing along and then she says they're going to do a Weezer song. Everyone sat down and nobody sang along. They stuck to oldies after that!

As I mentioned, this morning I did Bob Harper's Pure Strength -- a toughie. Not quite as bad as I remembered, but I did allow myself to do fewer reps and truth be told I skipped the last ten minutes. I had thought I was going to do Jari Love Ripped and Chisled but my dvd wouldn't play. I need to bring it to the house and try to wash it. That should fix it up. I am having fun mixing in different instructors and doing workouts I haven't done in a long time. I think I could actually keep this going for a long time.

Oh, kittybug, I can't believe you're able to do that many Slims in a week -- I think my body (and maybe my mind) would object but I have similar thoughts on the workouts in general.

Waves to Chele, lavna, horusosiris, Kate, and Garrie!

Alta, l love that comment by Gilad! Too funny! It’s very cool that you got to meet him. I used to tape his TV shows and I have a bunch converted to DVD. I also bought a few of the old show compilations that he put out.

Linda your new hiker avatar is so cute! Have you ever visited Nashville? We were talking with cousins yesterday that vacationed there recently. They had a fabulous time and it made me want to visit. I think going to the Grand Ol Oprey would be really fun, so iconic.

I am typing with one finger and it’s pretty slow going. I have Finley sleeping on my chest. Don’t want to disturb him as he has decided he prefers my husband’s lap and I don’t get him very often. I love the little bugger so much and he just won’t snuggle with me.

Love reading all the posts.
