It took three occasions within two months for me to finally figure out it was the spinach. I encountered someone on the Kitchns' Facebook page who advised me to save the spinach for cooked recipes, as it is notoriously difficult to clean. I was more than just a bit off after consuming these smoothies, I was violently ill for the rest of the day! So, I just decided no more for me.

That's awful! I've always bought mine from a local market known for impeccable and inexpensive produce. I guess I'll continue to do so.

They also do a free 30 day challenge for smoothies and email you a weekly smoothie plan.

I bought mine at Wholefoods, organic, pre-washed, same packaging all three times. Never had any problem when adding it to cooked foods, such as an omelet. Generally, Wholefoods has impeccable produce but I think baby spinach is difficult to wash. Anyway, I'm gun shy now and don't trust it. It could be something that I am just vulnerable too.

I cannot use artificial sweeteners any more as they were disrupting my endocrine system, so I either use nuts for protein or use a non-sweetened protein powder. Amazon sells several different types.
