Question about "parking" on checkin threads

Is this a must if you want to join in the thread at some point, or can you just add a new post whenever you are ready?

Are the threads the the "parking" spots in them limited to a set number of participants or something?

Please help me understand--this is new to me.

You can join any check in you want, and post whenever you want. There are no rules about when you have to post, or how many people can be in any check in. Everyone here is very welcoming

I've seen only one check in thread with participants parked. I don't routinely check out check ins that I am not a part of but I don't think that format is the norm.

If you find a check in you want to join, just jump in and introduce yourself and post however often you want. It is really easy.

I don't understand this concept of "parking." (Don't know what it means...)

But I do think it is good manners to introduce yourself and express a desire to join a check-in. I'm on a pretty small check-in (Losing It) that is open to new members, but occasionally we have random posts from un-introduced "newbies" and then they never return. It's sort of

Parking especially in Just The Workouts is saving your spot to add your workouts in one space for the month.

I believe parking is when you create a post that you will routinely edit to add information (most often a workout you did) rather than adding a new post every time you do a workout.

I've seen threads where there's parking in check ins (like an every day in the month check in) and in general discussion in the VF Holiday Exchange wish list thread when people will update once they have researched.

I think the purpose of parking is generally to cut down on the length of the thread. In check ins I imagine it would cut down on the social posts. Chatting about personal stuff in your check in is not everyone's cup of tea.

If you're interested in joining, why not ask a question about the etiquette/structure of the check in from the current posters? I'm sure they'd help you out to set you up for success in the check in.

I suppose people join check ins & for some just change their minds for many reasons, it happens a lot!

Thanks for all the answers. I just noticed the parking in the "just the workout" checkin and wasn't sure what it meant, but I didn't want to clutter up their thread by asking in there.

Gosh, anyone can join the Just The Workouts checkin - that's the point of it. You don't have to keep up with anyone but yourself. What a blessing!
