Paine, 2 miles is pretty impressive for your grandson! Water towers are cool.
Pat, yes the workshop was pretty cool. She made the point that some of the stuff on the web about the vagus is BS but that you definitely can encourage it to activate, which is likely to stimulate a relaxation response. Sandra, weeks of counting down makes sense - we often do that with the academic semester. Pam, glad you liked the locust variations! I filmed a new meditation video today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThugWpPJqGc I also did another video in the Blogilates 21 Day series that I really liked. It was cardio legs that was mostly standing, with all the moves being very doable...but I have a feeling I will feel it tomorrow! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KpCPgNer_Oo Oh, I didn't wind up teaching yoga tonight b/c no sign-ups. I guess everyone is out enjoying the beautiful weather here!

Pat, LOL, yes, it's all about the vagus these days! It does do a lot, but Saltonstall emphasized that it is mainly responsible for making us feel safe.
Polyvagal theory was developed by Stephen Porges, so you could read his books, including this one: https://smile.amazon.com/Pocket-Guid...ks%2C85&sr=1-4 Here is a card deck by Deb Dana, who is the main researcher applying polyvagal theory to therapy: https://smile.amazon.com/Polyvagal-C...s%2C85&sr=1-25

Paine, glad you liked the new meditation! I got the idea for the "I am what I am" mantra from a story I heard on NPR this past weekend. I wanted to make the point that before we can love ourselves - or even like ourselves - we have to accept ourselves just as we are. That doesn't mean we can't try to change; here's one of my favorite quotes about that:
“The curious paradox is that, when I accept myself as I am, then I can change.” ~Carl Rogers
