My strategies…
~Cook once, eat twice
~More plant based meals as meat is so expensive
~More legumes like beans & chickpeas
~Subbing cheaper cuts of meat & poultry, one example is chicken drums instead of wings, so much cheaper
~Lots of “clean out the fridge soups”
~Modifying recipes to use what I have and avoid unnecessary trips to the store.

Bulk stores don't work for everyone, especially if you're a small household and even more so if you have to spend gas $$ outside of your normal driving routine to get there. I had a huge declutter of my kitchen cupboards, pantry and another storage space for the express purpose of bulk shopping storage. With fresh foods you have to carefully evaluate the savings versus will it rot before you use it.

Oh - I don't think we talked about cleaning supplies. I use white vinegar for just about everything now, and bleach for the toilets. I get a monstrous bottle of white vinegar at BJ's and need to restock it every two weeks.

I use diluted vinegar on my floors and I infuse it with citrus peels. I dilute a little of my Norwex powder UPP detergent with water in a spray bottle and it works great as an all purpose cleaner. I have to take it a bit easy on bleach as we are on a septic field.

I use most of your strategies. Detoxinista has lots of great recipes that don't use meat (and they are delicious!). My husband LOVES soup, so I do make quite a lot of it. I buy what I can at ALDI and supplement items I can't buy there from sales at other grocery stores.

It's just me and my husband, but Costco works for us for some things. Such as tp and paper towels, frozen fruit for smoothies, kitty litter, meat, butter (keep in freezer), gallon jugs of vinegar, large bag of baking soda, and Dave's Killer Bread.

Trader Joe's can also be cheaper for some things, especially natural or organic foods.

I started to use Chewy for my cat food. They seem to be cheaper than Target or Walmart, or Amazon.

All of these, even though I was doing these things before prices went up.
There are more convenience foods I could drastically cut if I need to, like plant-based milks, and I could go cheaper on fruits, which is one area I indulge.

Modifying recipes is key. My meal plans are loose and I change gears depending on what is fresher and a better price at the store.

Having a stand-alone freezer really helps as I can stock up frozen stuff when on sale, and batch cook if I end up with a lot of something fresh that needs to be used up. Electricity for keeping the freezer is one of those unseen expenses, but with a family with several adults it’s practically necessary, anyway.

Don't check cookbooks out of the library. This is one of my weaknesses and it always makes me spend more at the grocery store

One of my savings tips is to check the books out from the library!

I love cookbooks and I'd rather try them out before buying instead of purchasing first and finding out I don't like the book!
