Gilad’s Step and Tone

I did this workout this morning and I didn’t think it would be very tough seeing how I was using 3 lb. weights and a 4-inch step, but I think using the weights and step together continuously for 45 minutes increased the intensity quite a bit. Also, I had forgotten how it makes me laugh when Gilad says “project your buttocks backwards.”

I used to love this workout and my son would do it with me or even on his own when he was very little (he's 27 now)!

I wanted to like this one because it's so basic and repetitive and that's what I need in a step workout. BUT I could never coordinate the arm and leg movements, lol. I'll have to try it again sometime.

Although I'm a complex choreography junkie when it comes to step, I love this workout. It reminds me of the 4-limb step sections in the old Firm workouts, although the arm movements are done at a more controlled pace. I haven't done it in years, but I always used 3-4 lb. dumbbells and an 8-inch step. By the end of the cardio portion my arms were burning and I was drenched in sweat.

I used to always do step on an 8-inch step, but I think those days are gone and I’m happy with a 4-inch step these days. I may be able to go higher if I did step more often, but I don’t do it often anymore.

One of Gilads's best

I still have this workout. I wrote a review of it years ago, I like the fact that it's a step workout that incorporates weights for the upper body. There's also some bodyweight moves for the lower body at the end. Maybe I'll pull it out and do it tomorrow.
