Koga - yoga and kickboxing workout?

I was watching Fit TV yesterday and lo and behold, an informercial appears for Koga. I'm leery of the advertising hype of any exercise infomercial even though I am obviously a die-hard vidiot. This had the typical "you get a $$$$$ value for only $"!! --something about trying the system for $9.99 (oh, but by the way if you like the program you keep it -- and we charge you a "one-time" payment of $29.99 or something like that.

I went to the website www.kogaworkout.com

and it doesn't have the TV offer...if you put the dvd in your paypal cart it's $49.99. I'm not gonna pay that much for one dvd, even though I'm intrigued.

Has *anyone* heard of this or perhaps done a class? Supposedly there's a gym in Long Island.

The clip seems to be just a warm-up so I still don't have any idea what Koga looks like.

Koga DVD Video Clip

I did some googling and found this demo from the actual DVD. Hopefully the link works. One question I have would be..is the yoga mixed in with the kickboxing or is it included as a separate segment?

First we get "piloxing" (pilates and boxing) so I guess it was only a matter of time before someone came up with Koga.

What's next? Maybe I'll start developing a line of Kenates (Kenpo and Pilates) DVDs.

Thanks for posting this!

Does not tempt me at all...the video clip looks monotonous and the music sounded montonous, too. Could be one of those things that is fun when you actually do so it I will look forward to reviews .

Budokon is yoga & kickboxing but nothing like this Koga. I loved my one time try at Budokon Power & Agility & can't wait to try the other two.

I used to be at the gym on L.I. where the classes were taught. I never took a class, but they were always packed. People loved it. They came out soaking wet & exhausted. Now I wish I had taken a class, but they werent offered at a convenient time for me.

I emailed to ask more questions over the weekend but have not heard back. I wanted to know:

(1) DVD or DVD-R?
(2) Is it more that 1 workout? How long is the workout(s)?
(3) Are the yoga segments separate or incorporated in with the cardio?

If I hear anything, I will post back!

Adrien, do let us know what they say!
I saw the commercial again and took note of the actual special TV offer website: www.kogatv.com

I'm still unimpressed by the idea of a "free trial for only $9.95" - when the S&H is almost as much! If you don't return it after 30 days they charge you $30. It seems like that is on top of the $9.95 and the $7.95 shipping and handling. So you end up paying just about the "50 dollar value" anyway.

From that website:

Disk 1 Features
· Chapter 1. KONDITIONING - Beginners 28-minute Warm-Up Routine
· Chapter 2. ORGANIZATION - A live demonstration of each move in
slow motion
· Chapter 3. GO - 45-minute power workout for medium level fitness
Disk 2 Features
· Chapter 1. ADVANCED - A high-energy 65-minute routine designed for advanced fitness

I do like the idea of a 45-minute workout and an hour-long advanced one. I'm tempted but I am feeling kind of put off by the way they marketed the darn thing.

Hmm, I think this should have been called Kickoga, to leave room for those entrepreneurs wishing to come up with a karate-yoga mix.
Of course, that fusion could be called Kaga or, even better, Yarate! (Or Yo-rate... or...)

That instructor's name is Koga! So unless it's a made-up name, it's like that guy named Abdo who came up with the Ab-doer.

What would happen if other instructors followed their names?
Donna Read would write books
Rod Stryker would make boxing or bowling workouts
Leisa Hart would focus on cardio
Jari Love would offer relationship advice
Amy Bento would package her DVDs in little Japanese lunch boxes
