Hello,

TBL: Quick Pilates Abs

I went outside for a walk yesterday since it has been so nice and warmer here this week (in the 60's with sunshine).

Donna, I'm glad you're enjoying the nice weather too. I bet the walking feels really good after sitting most of the day!

Carol, I'm so sorry about your knee now, and still not having your meds! Good for you for still getting your workout in. We can always modify!

Linda, thanks! Is your DH still working out too?

Dana, I hope you're making some progress in your favor with the insurance company.

Linda, you hit it on the head. That's it - preachy. She's a great instructor but I'm just not clicking with her. I will enjoy the rest of my annual subscription but I will not renew it. I've only glanced at her recipes but I'm not interested in getting the recipes or nutritional advice from my fitness instructors' websites.

Carol, sorry your knee is hurting. Do you think you may have overworked it? I hope you got your arthritis meds. You are much more understanding than I am. I would be calling my dr. office every 10 minutes, especially if I was in pain.

Donna and Christine, thanks for asking about the progress with my car insurance. I received another message that they've closed my claim by sending a check for a full amount to the body repair shop of my choice which was Toyota certified, not just any "Bob's Body Shop". They stood by their word and waived my deductible as promised. Yes, Donna, my car was parked and I wasn't in it, so they should've waived the deductible and they did. I take back every bad word I've uttered (OK, said out loud!) about the USAA. They've honored their promise, didn't argue with me and handled this claim fairly efficiently. Now, I hope my RAV4 will be ready on Friday. I'm sooo done with this drama and ready to put it behind me!

Christine, I'm glad you're taking it easy and doing only what your body tells you to do. Doesn't make sense to push yourself if it doesn't benefit your health.

My cousin is over the worst of Covid and is getting better. I know it not only because she told me so, but she had also started complaining about having to be in quarantine until March 17. So, she must be doing better!

Enjoy your evening everyone!

Carol well for Pete's sake ..not your knee too! I have to say, I love how you find a way to keep moving.

Donna bodyweight stuff is no joke! I am going to look for the herniated disc video of Jessica's you mentioned. That sounds like something that would feel good.

Dana thrilled to read your insurance company handled your claim in an honorable and prompt manner. So rare these days!!

Christine as a matter of fact my husband is still exercising. In fact, he came and lifted weights while I was exercising this evening. I think he's quite serious about it Your walking weather sounds lovely.

Today was Ellen's Barefoot Cardio. Sometimes it was tough with my husband walking back and forth through the room but at least I managed not to whack him in the head with my arms Ellen does get too fixated on happy feet and star arms but overall it was the right movement for me today. I needed to hear Ellen tell me to "Pig out on air!"

Happy Hump Day!

Wednesday's workouts were:

Pahla B - March 2 Shoulder Friendly Cardio Workout - 21 minutes;
Workout Hotel - Pilates with Weights & Mini Ball - 20 minutes

Pahla often uses a lot of above the head arm movements, so it was a pleasant surprise when she released two shoulder friendly workouts this month. There were no above the head arm movements in this cardio workout and my heart rate did get elevated. I modified here and there for my bum knee, trying to eliminate movements that required bending my knee a lot. I think it's some better, but not much.

Karen's Pilates with Weights and Mini Ball workout was great - it was very similar in style to her Pilates Sculpt DVD in Define & Align. This workout was done all on the floor, mostly on your back, with a little bit of side work and work on all fours at the end. Lots of varied movements and work with the weights made it interesting for me. This workout is on YouTube. I think I've figured out that her streaming site has a lot more longer workouts, anywhere from 45 minutes to over an hour - lots of those workouts were live workouts that she has done the last few months and they are not available on YouTube. Long story short, I probably don't need her streaming, because I don't want workouts that long.

The medication saga continues. Silly me, I thought the arthritis specialist would want to be in control of all of my arthritis medicine, but apparently not. Her nurse's response was to get that medication prescribed by the other doctor (the hand doctor who sent me to the arthritis doctor). That doesn't make any sense to me , but now I'm waiting on that doctor. If she won't do it, I guess I'll ask my primary care doctor.

Today should be a day at School - our letter regarding our mask protocol going forward to going to faculty and out to parents. I told my boss he's going to make people on all sides angry, and maybe that's the sign of a good decision. I bet I'm tired tonight.

Linda - Nice job! Ellen can get "stuck" on a movement sometimes.

Dana - Yea! Progress on your insurance claim and your car may be done soon! When I got rear-ended a couple of years ago, it took probably 6 weeks to get my car fixed. I thought the body shop would never get to it, and then thought they would never get it fixed. I got irritated with Jessica V last year when she ventured off into politics and social issues on her Facebook page. In addition to not caring about their recipes, etc., I don't care to read about an instructor's political persuasions, either way. So glad your cousin is doing better!

Christine - Good job being consistent with Robin!

Waves to Donna and Brenda. Maybe you (Donna) need a standing desk.

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I managed to get out for a walk....w/ DD and Golden!

Today, so far, has been:

Ellen - Lifted & Lean
Jessica Valent - Hip Stretches

Carol - Oh my goodness, what a run-around w/ the meds. I hope your knee is feeling better, too. And, hopefully, a drama free day at work. My DH's company is urging them to come back in - so I spent time yesterday looking to see where DH could get the vaccine, and he isn't in the eligible group here in MD. So...we registered to be notified, but that is about all we can do. I'm definitely in Phase 3 - here which is "general population" so I will probably not be able to get mine until the summer at the earliest. I hope my DD can get a vaccine before college....

And yes, I think one of the best things about not being on Facebook is not reading about instructor's opinions on things. I mean, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but for a fitness instructor's "fitness" site I'd prefer to keep it to workouts, etc. Why not post that stuff on your personal FB page? Oh well, it is a blessing not to know about some things!!

Dana - I'm glad your car is coming back and you didn't get any hassle from your insurance company. Also glad your cousin is recovering.

Linda - I was in an Ellen mood, too! I didn't sleep well last night - too much research on vaccines and sites and where to get it!

Christine - I think we have one more day of nice weather, then we get more "normal" for March - next week.

Waves, everyone!!

Oh -I kinda know what you mean about JV - I think it comes from her clinical background...

Donna there's no one quite like Ellen is there? Honestly, I could see myself subscribing to her one day. Is your husband required to get the vaccine before he returns? Or is that a precaution you have?

Carol that makes no sense giving you the run-around on the meds like that. Ugh. I'm sorry.

I'll be posting a trade list soon. I managed to notice several unloved workouts that I don't mind parting with. Had a great time lifting weights with my daughter and we did Erin o'brien strong body ageless body. Great workout. I'm a big fan of PHA workouts in general. We both enjoyed her no nonsense approach. We played our own music though. Did a mobility workout from Lauren Brooks first. Afterwards, I mentioned to my daughter how much I enjoyed the way Lauren taught. My daughter said ,"Yeah, she's a bro!" I'm pretty sure that's good

Waves to Dana and Brenda!

10 min Jessica Smith's Cardio Step Jam
20 min Christie Taylor's Still Steppin'

I started with Jessica today and got a bit bored. I've been thinking about doing Christie sometime, since it's been years, and just had to pull it out. I had a blast though I have a borderline intensity headache.

Dana, yay for an almost fixed car!

Today's workouts were:

Dog Walk - 40 minutes;
Jessica Valant Pilates - Gentle Beginners Pilates Mat Workout - 20 minutes

It was a beautiful afternoon - mid 70s, sunny and absolutely no wind. We both needed to get outside so we grabbed the dogs and went for a walk. They were so excited. Finished up with Jessica's gentle pilates routine. I may cycle back through her 10 Minute series - I really enjoyed it.

Brenda - LOL, I've been known to switch DVDs mid-workout.

Linda - Ellen's streaming really is a bargain - only $5.95 a month. It's so easy to cancel too. I feel a month of Ellen coming in the near future.

Donna - Y'all need to take a road trip and come to Amarillo. Starting next week we will vaccinate anyone age 50 and up - I'm guessing that would cover your DH, and if you told a small fib and said you had asthma or something like that, they would vaccinate you too. You don't have to live in Texas to get a vaccination here. DS is going tomorrow to get vaccinated - his BMI is too high, so he qualifies. I heard tonight that Biden is going to announce that he is asking all the states to open up their vaccination programs to all adults by May.

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I walked w/ my DD and Golden. It was lovely outside!

Today, so far has been:

Lucy Wyndham Read (LWR) - Run to the Mountains (this is the cute one w/ the wolf)

Lucy Wyndham Read - Feel Fabulous Challenge Day # 3 (lower body)

Trifecta Pilates - Stability ball workout

Jessica Valent - Sciatica routine - great leg stretches in this one!

Not sure what else I will have time for today.

Carol - wow! That is great about Texas - we are definitely slow here - it is as you and I talked previously, Maryland is so busy trying to be fair that they are making it unduly difficult for people to get vaccines and there is so much mixed messaging and so much confusion about who is eligible, where to go, etc. I think it is a full time job researching and signing up! Anyway, DH is registered at three site to be notified when they are ready for him and I'm registered at 2 sites. Some sites won't let you register if you are not in the phase currently being served.

Oh well... all will be well eventually.

Dana - yay on your car!!

Brenda - Christie is fun - I will have to see if I have any of her workouts in my collection!

Linda - as you know, I just love Ellen!!

Waves, Christine - hope you are well!

Hope everyone enjoys the weekend!
