yes it will work fine but the frozen fruit, etc. just may be more clumpy. I can't say because I've not made one in anything other than my Vitamix. The vitamix breaks the fibers down to miniscule so that it's really creamy. If you don't mind pulp-like materials in your drinks it will be fine.

The motor on the Vitamix is what kills all them big things

even when I put in Almonds. Pulverized. !!!! Smash

LOL. Thanks, Cheryl. Yes, I'm used to the lumps, so I'll be ok. The Vitamix does sound divine, but I just can't do it at this time

I use a NutriBullet and it works fine. Costs about $100 at Target. Fruit and Greens even nuts come out smooth. Haven't tried carrots or beets tho. Pulverizes frozen fruit.

Hmm, Nutribullet. I knew I had heard about another one more affordable than Vitamix or Blendec. Maybe I'll check it out at Target.

I used a regular blender for smoothies and added spinach before I bought a Blendtec. It came out okay-there was sort of a gritty taste from the spinach. though. I don't think it gets ground down as finely as with a Blendtec or Vitamix, but it's definitely worth trying.

Yes, I used a regular blender for years, no problem. It won't be as smooth but it will get the job done.

Also, look at the Ninja (around $100). It was recently rated #1 in a cost/performance test over the Vitamix (which I love) and Blendtec by Consumer Reports......

You can get the Nutribullet at Bed Bath and Beyond and use a 20% coupon they give you for signing up for their mailing list (link at the bottom of the home page):

http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/prod...p?SKU=40081076

I bought mine for $79.99 + tax and no shipping charge. It was delivered in less than a week. I've been using it every day since January with no problems. Makes a really great smoothie!

ETA: You really have to make sure you don't go above the "fill" line or it will leak. If you keep all the ingredients "at or below" that line, no leaking.

I have the Ninja, and while it does get spinach pretty tiny there are still flecks. According to my BIL, his Vitamix liquifies spinach and kale (I haven't tried kale). Of course, I'm an impatient person and don't usually blend my smoothies very long - maybe 20 seconds total. It may liquify better if you blend longer.

For the $300 differnce, I'll take the little flecks .
