I tried this recipe this morning, which was in SELF magazine. I scribbled it down while waiting for my chiropractor appointment:

1 cup almond milk
1/2 cup Greek yogurt
1 carrot (I used a big handful of shredded carrots)
1 banana (I used a frozen banana)
1 cup pineapple (I used frozen pineapple)
1 cup kale

I admit that I am not used to that much kale, and found the smoothie needed a little sweetening. I used a little bit of agave. It was pretty good-there are recipes I like more, but it was a great way to get in a good amount of fruits and vegetables early in the day. I would make it again.

I've made this one for breakfast 2 days in a row. I'm surprised by how much I like it. I must be getting used to kale because it was sweet enough for me. Thank you!!!

This isn't really a smoothie because it's more dilute, but I do make it in my Vitamix. I take about 1/3 of a good sized English cucumber, unpeeled, and a whole lemon peeled and seeded with about 1 1/2 cups of water. It is very refreshing, hydrating, and cleansing. I have been doing it every morning and after working out.

That sounds really good, Pam. I'll bet lime would also be good. And some ginger and/or mint. Definitely something to keep in mind as warmer weather approaches!

Pam that sounds like a good juice. I'd do it in my Juicer. The other day I did do a whole regular cucumber. Is that the large size, with 2 apples and 1 tomato. I don't know what I was intending, I think i was headed to my own V8 and went to just the cucumber and apple. Yum.. I agree.

I added some fresh mint and it was very nice. Thanks for the suggestion Cyana!

I am sure it would make a nice juice. I used to have a juicer, but gave it to my son as it was such a pain to clean compared to the Vitamix. And I don't like throwing out all that pulp.

[EDIT] FYI - Did you know there is calcium in cucumbers, especially in the skin of long English ones? I didn't know that, you learn something new every day!

Pam that sounds like a wonderful detoxing smoothie, and with the addition of mint and maybe a pinch of sea salt, and great way to hydrate during the sweaty summer months!

I learned from Blend It and Mend It that cucumber also has silica, which is great for the skin. I always thought cucumbers were nothing more than fiber and water - I'm loving learning via Facebook nutrition pages and all the nutrition blogs how much all the different fruits and vegetables have to offer us! I especially love Healther Blender Recipe's page and the little informative billboards she posts.
