TRX training

I have always wanted to buy the TRX system, and finally got one! I attached it to the ceiling in my basement workout space. I does require quite a bit of space around it to do all the exercises.

I tried it out yesterday. It is challenging! It's so different from any other type of exercise I have ever done. You will use muscles you didn't know you had! The instability makes you concentrate because you have to be careful to stay braced and in control.

I need to look at some videos because I need to learn how to adjust the straps properly for each exercise. I have a book, but need to see someone actually doing the adjustments and the exercises.

I'm excited to be trying something new, and improving my strength this way.

Does anyone use TRX or something similar? What exercises do you do? How has it helped you?

I have RedCords.

Here's my YouTube Playlist for Suspension Workouts that might be useful to you.

I also have the set of Rip60 workouts

I used to have the Lifeline Jungle Gym XT straps. I found I just didn't use them that often.

I was worried they might break and I'd hit the deck.

Hey FitBoop.

Have you checked out the trxtraining.com site? They have a 30 day free trial and subscriptions starting at $5.99 a month. I signed up for their newsletter and occasionally get a free workout to try but it's mostly equipment sales.

You might have received something with the TRX about a free trial.

I have some of the old TRX workout dvds purchased from ebay. I only found one that clicked but they were a start. My old pilates studio offered TRX classes and that helped the most in developing basic moves.

Now I look for new workouts on YouTube. Still haven't found one I love. There are so many of them. I'm sure you can find help by viewing a few.

Let me know if you are interested in any of the dvd's I have. I'll dig them out if you are. One of them is an essential workout, I think Essential Strength. Not certain of the other two. Unlikely I'll ever use them again.

Have fun!

Thanks, Helen, for the YouTube playlist!

Thanks, loulou, for reminding me about the TRX website, and for the DVD offer . I will try the streaming and hopefully, will be able to learn the movements.

LOL, star117 .

Vintage VFer, that would be scary if the bands broke!

I love my suspension trainer (have a lifeline). Most of my strength training lately has been with kettlebells, and the suspension trainer complements kettlebells very well. I'd love to see more instructors doing videos for it. My top 3 on youtube are:

Nia Shanks has a free 8 week program as well that I plan to do:

Lauren Brooks has a DVD that uses both kettlebells and suspension training exercises, Ultimate Body Sculpt and Conditioning with Kettlebells, Volume 3. I have it, but haven't done it yet.

We did a cruise that offered TRX classes as an add on fee a few years ago.

I did them and I was so sore the entire cruise, lol! I don’t know if it was the different modality or the range of motion but my triceps, chest, and hamstrings were fried! I never thought body weight could hurt so bad!
