I have a number of Sue Grant workouts, and her work is all about the senior exerciser. I don't remember which video or article I read, but she is adamant that dynamic stretching is better for older exercisers than static stretching. This stuck in my head because I love Classical Stretch/Essentrics and was glad to see that Sue Grant and Miranda both agree about moving stretches.

SO I was glad to see that this article identifies static stretching as the culprit. And the only times I've ever hurt myself while stretching were in yoga classes (when I ended up in the chiropractor's office) with static stretching.

I enjoyed it, but then I got bored. I need to add it back in or do some of their free YouTube classes.
