Good point - never thought of that so I went to look at my copy. Some of my Kali Ray's are dvd-r! I bought these all legitimately as well from either Amazon or I think her website (it's been a while). The OP's dvd may, in fact, be legitimate.

If in fact that is the case, it's against rules to resell DVD-R on ebay. At one time I had a gin miller DVD-R that I purchased from collage, and someone reported it and ebay the ended my auction and i got a warning. I never had thought that listing a "legitimate" DVD was against their rules. Ebay does not allow DVD-r sales of any kind.

Tracy Reifkind is another one who does this. I doubt that her workouts are that much in demand...outside our own little universe.

Anyone selling dvds should know better than to sell dvd-rs unless they clearly state that's what they are.
Amazon states in the description for Killer Abs that it's DVD-R. Some of the workout videos they sell are manufactured on demand DVD-Rs, such as Killer Abs, Jillian's Kickbox, AOS Newport and Dream Body. I wish they would make it clearer in the descriptions.

Eibhinn, I just left a voicemail at Kali Ray headquarters. And I looked at retails DVD-Rs that I have; they're not on TDK branded discs. They don't say DVD on the label and DVD-R near the spindle hole. This was listed as a DVD and is a DVD-R.

I've had Kali Ray Free the Hips twice before and those discs, bought at retail, were not purple backed. Apparently it's OOP. The only other listing of it on Ebay is more than $60, same at amazon.

I checked on Amazon, I guess I didn't notice that note about it being manufactured on demand. I'm still mad that they even do that. I think it's too easy for people to miss that note or some people don't know there is a difference between dvds and dvd-rs.

What's even more bizarre, you can buy it from AOS right from that Amazon listing for $10 less (plus $2.98 shipping) - and theirs are pressed!

Aha - OOP price gouging! That's a good motivator for bootlegging, for sure. Hadn't thought about that. Good luck with getting this all sorted out. It's annoying as heck getting surprised with a DVD-R, regardless of its provenance.

Way to undercut.... yourself? What?
The retail world is just too bizarre for words sometimes.
