I use essential oil roll-ons for massage, not for Aromatherapy.
Mostly, I massage the oils into my heels.

I diffuse in my bedroom and in the living area. I have intermittent diffusers, 30 seconds on & 30 seconds off. It’s not overpowering & the diffuser runs for a lot longer.

My favourite EOs & combos:
~ylang ylang & citrus, especially lime
~eucalyptus, peppermint, lavender, & rosemary - headache blend
~cinnamon, clove bud, & star anise - in the kitchen & living area
~tea tree & lemon - deodorizer
~lavender & bergamot
~thieves blend
~breathe easy blend

I have recently been into lemongrass. Of course, lavender will always be a part of my aroma world.

I cut the oils with grapeseed oil if I find them too strong. This doesn't seem to be the case any more. I think they get deluded in the manufacturing.

When I took yoga classes when I lived in Florida, the instructor would go around and ask each person, as we laid in corpse pose at the end, if we would like a weighted eye bag with lavender or whatever the scent of the day was. It was such a nice way to end a class.

Alas, those pampering days may be a thing of the past! I will just have to treat myself with it.

In the 'it smells nice' category, I've been enjoying some bath oils that I got as a set a while ago. They were expensive, so I started wearing just a touch of the oil as fragrance instead of using them as bath oils. They've lasted a good long time. I like that they're so subtle. Mine are by Aromatherapy Associates.

In other smell-good stuff I like smelly candles that just scent the room even when they aren't lit. The candles last longer that way, so I don't feel quite so extravagant for having bought yet more candles.

In terms of diffusers, I do have one I use in my room with some stone pine essential oil or with lavender oil. I like both, the stone pine is expensive and I'm trying to make my bottle last so I only use it once in a while. I make setting it up with fresh oil and water part of my bedtime/nightly ritual.

In terms of actually establishing a practice, I seem to get along better with starting small, and being consistent for a while, then only gradually adding to it. Lately I do a small breathing practice to help my anxiety several times a day. That alone seems to have set me up for success in rebuilding an actual meditation practice, because now at bedtime I do the breathing practice and move right in to my other breath work and meditation. It's helped me be more consistent than I have in a long time.

The pleasant smells around me are sorta just there anyway, not a separate part of the practice.

I've learned that I find incense kind of overwhelming, and gave it up.

Oh, and one thing I did for a while with the bath oil was to put a dab in my hands, rub them together, then put my hands over my face and inhale the scent for a while. It was nicely calming and centering first thing in the morning as I got dressed.

That's a nice idea!

Chronic pain has plagued me most of my life.
The past year, I have been a guinea pig for several pain ointments and essential oils.
Some quite expensive.

For months, I have used various rollers of essential oil blends on my feet for stress and pain, every morning and evening or as needed during the day.
I do deeply breathe in the oil left on my hands after massaging my feet.

In 2017, I had extensive tests done to see what was causing my chronic pain with a very expensive pain specialist.
I did lose 20 pounds following his anti-inflammatory diet but did not feel any better.
Other than peripheral neuropathy as a result of statin use,
elevated cortisol and low oxygenation were about the only conditions diagnosed.
My red blood cells were too small for years.
I was also pre-diabetic for years.

Last week, my oxygenation was great, even while wearing a mask.
Red blood cells were normal!!!!!
My fasting blood glucose is finally under 100 and my A1C is lower, even though I have gained a few pounds back.
All other tests were better if not the same indicating the oils did no harm.

Needless to say, these are very stressful times, both politically and personally,
so seeing an improvement in my body's ability to handle the stress is quite encouraging.

Elevated cortisol, low oxygen saturation and red blood cell (rbc) alterations are often indicators of sleep apnea. Weight loss can reduce this (meaning better daytime oxygen levels and rbc normalization) but sometimes not resolve it completely. If you haven't already been tested, it might be worth a conversation with your doctor, especially if your chronic pain issues have persisted. Sleep apnea can also make it more difficult to maintain normal blood glucose. HTH.

oxygen saturation is now fine.
rbc are now fine.
blood glucose is now fine.
random nerve pain is less intense.
all conditions are better now than they were before and after weight loss in 2017 and 2018.

but thanks for the advice!
ETA: Statins also increase the chance of developing Type2 Diabetes.
