Erica, that sucks! We used to have frequent power outages in summer during thunderstorms, and I remember having to toss a whole crockpot stuffed with food that had just started cooking. I'm so hoping our power and internet stay on. We have a pantry full of canned food just in case.

The CDC advice for how to avoid getting sick is pretty straightforward:
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019...revention.html

On Facebook people are peddling all kinds of snake oil, like liquid vitamins and elderberries.

That's good! Did he get tested? I hope he makes a full recovery very soon.

No, he didn't get tested. We are in Ohio and way behind on testing. It's frustrating!

Wow is right. It's very sobering. I didn't think businesses would be folding so quickly.

My favorite organic cafe is facing closure. I'm so sad, it's a wonderful spot with healthy food and he's doing his best to promote family sized meals available to pre-order and his daily menu three days a week for curbside pick up. The problem is, he just expanded about eight months ago to a nice new location.

I also did not anticipate businesses folding this quickly.

One day at a time ... one day at a time ...

Your governor took action much earlier than most, despite the testing issue. I think that's a nationwide problem. Here in Virginia, you cannot be tested without a doc's order, you have to make an appointment for a test (including drive thru testing), etc. I haven't fallen ill (yet) but I understand it's not easy to get an appointment. I have two sites within walking distance of my house, one of which is limited to County residents. The demand is high and will get higher, unfortunately.

I hope your son is recovering well, Erica. I cannot imagine what you've gone through.

Our governor has done a great job with taking action and I think it will make a big difference. Right now, they are only testing healthcare workers and high-risk patients (I am pretty sure this is correct).

Thank you for your good wishes. My son seems to be doing well.

Just found out today that my dd's college freshman orientation is canceled and will be done online. I'm wondering if fall semester will be online as well. Her orientation was scheduled for mid-August.
