I was doing a search on Scott Cole's Disco Dojo when I happened upon VF. I didn't get that video, but after all this time, I have a lot. My little life has been intertwined with VF for a long time. I love all the folks I got to hear from so much. And with Collage different, for me it has been Mary's and VF. It's true I don't run into people who understand my drive. I find inspiration here and a social life. Yeah, VF means a lot to me.

Taiga - I agree that family docs often don't know a lot about sports injuries. I'd be more apt to suggest seeing a good physio or kinesiologist than a FP unless there's a possible fracture involved. I have an excellent physio and he's my go to before my doc. IMO if you're really hurting it's good to get advice from a pro rather than risk making it worse. But I agree it's good to share experiences for sure.

You are so sweet- thank you! I am glad to find other music geeks here. I think I am the only one left doing the live Soul Sweat classes. I really enjoy them since they have great music and they do not cause my chronic injuries to flare up. I had suggested they do a David Bowie tribute class. One of the owners at Alchemy really liked the idea but if they did one it has not been posted yet.

hch: I recall a thread of mine about a certain topic where a poster who was obviously in opposition to what we were all discussing jumped in, very aggressively, and was so rude, that she succeeded in getting my entire thread shut down. She tried to change the thread and then got insulting, and that was the end of that. I guess she felt a big sense of accomplishment about it.
However, I stayed off VF for a little over a month because of it, and when I did start looking at posts again, I would check through a thread to make sure that particular poster was not one of the people participating. So this kind of thing could be one type of situation where people have left VF and just never said anything about what was wrong. They probably felt it wouldn't make any difference anyway. |

IMDB- the internet movie database is shutting down their message boards. They are an Amazon owned company. It is a great place to go to after watching a movie to get further info on any lingering questions. They are referring people to use their social media pages instead. A question about a particular film, tv show, etc. would be buried if asked on social media!

It's a shame it's being closed down and so suddenly. It's an excellent resource for me to get info about a movie nd other people's opinions. There are plenty of movies that have left me confused at the end and someone of the board has offered a clearer explanation than I could figure out myself. Some are calling out for Youtube to disable comments too. I hope not. Although there are bad apples on imdb and youtube, some comments provide a wealth of info and insight. I'm on the upper crust of the early 30s age range, but social media doesn't make a great substitute for forums. It's far too fleeting to find any one topic before it's swept away and organization/searchability is lacking. Forums may have had their heyday but it doesn't make them insignificant and obsolete. I've seen recent posts across several forums in the last month about each particular forum has lost its steam. So I checked out facebook groups out to see how active they were. I signed up for Hammer and Chisel's official group when it came out. That group was dead as a doorknob after a few months. Other fb groups lacked ongoing, thoughtful discussion while others thrive and are lively. |
