The books I've read (or attempted to read) this week are:

The Lost Night by Andrea Bartz
The Favor by Nicci French
Dreamland by Nicholas Sparks
The Prisoner by B.A. Paris (struggled through this one)
Signal Fires by Dani Shapiro (couldn't get past page 20)

I'm now reading The Family Game by Catherine Steadman

Thanks! I’ve read a couple of books on the Titanic so this looks interesting. I might splurge and get the kindle version. I’m so spoiled by Kindle Unlimited, lol.

Just finished Nettle & Bone by T. Kingfisher. I’ve never read anything by this author, so for an impulse library-grab, was surprisingly good. The perfect modern fairytale, where the princess is 30 and has an unusual quest and a motley collection of helpers.

Amazing how you can have all the money in the world plus the love/support of family/friends but it's not enough to beat addiction. His life has really been ruined by this.

There’s not anything stronger than the pull of the drug when you’re an addict. He probably should have waited to write his book (if he lives). Right now he still has a lot of anger toward the drug programs and even his dentist (not sure where that came from). He’s very upset that people treat him like a drug addict, but how else would they treat him? Also, it’s hard to know what’s true and what’s not. Drug addicts lie ALL THE TIME and he should expect doctors to question what he says and his motives. My first husband was a heroin addict. I remember when I had my appendix out and he came to visit me in the hospital. He said he would be right back and then disappeared. I asked the nurse if she knew where he was and she said, “He’s down in x-ray so they can see if they can tell why he’s having so much pan.” (Yeah...right.). Luckily the doctor that looked at his x-rays also saw the track marks on his arms and realized he was just trying to get drugs. He ended up overdosing and died from his addiction a few years later.

I finished "War & Peace". Took almost seven months. I'm glad I got through it.

I'm in the midst of "The Lincoln Highway" now and really loving it. Have also started "The Age of Innocence", and have "A Thousand Ships" waiting for me.

I'm so sorry.

I really liked this too. I've enjoyed all of the books by Amor Towles that I've read.

I'm reading Living with Mild Brain Injury: The Difficulties of Diagnosis and Recovery from Post-Concussion Syndrome. I am 10 1/2 months post-concussion and still struggling with some symptoms.

Sorry you're (still) dealing with issues, Erica. I hope you're seeing a reputable neurologist and getting the assistance you need to fully recover.

Gams, that must have been an extremely trying time for you. I hope you've found peace since then

Erica, I know this has been a long battle for you. I hope the book offers you some insight and maybe relief.

I finished The Family Game and also read The Sleepover and Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six. If you like thrillers / mysteries with totally twisted / deranged characters, you'll like these.
