I recently had to replace my DVD player and I looked at Best Buy, where I had a choice of 2. I bought a Sony for $45. It's so nice and small, compared to the non-functional VCR/DVD combo I'm still using as a pedestal for my workout TV. The Sony works beautifully and I'm very happy with it.

I only use my computer for my DVDs and since my new laptop didn't have a DVD player, I ordered a $20 DVD player off Amazon that simply uses a USB. It's fantastic and quite easy!

Oh, and I have a Sony blu ray/dvd player as well. It even has youtube, netflix, and other apps on it. Love it for those features too. It's this one.
I'm like you, I have a big selection. I thought it was interesting that the cinephiles are keeping DVDs alive! It reminds me of the people who preferred vinyl to CDs when CDs were becoming more popular. Music buffs complained that CDs compressed the sound and that vinyl was richer and truer.
