Update:

I did a Soul Sweat class from Alchemy of Movement this morning. I wear shoes for this workout. They did make a little noise, but it did not wake up my son or DH so that is fine.

It does shift a bit using it with shoes on, but not enough to be annoying or get in the way of dancing.

I was able to do triple steps again I could not do them on the carpeting. My sneakers would get stuck and it would bother my knees.

The cushioning feels so nice!

I am really happy that I bought it. I think I could even do yoga on it without a yoga mat if I wanted, but that isn't necessary since I have multiple yoga mats.

This is a brilliant tip! I don't have a rug pad under my area rug. (My area rug is on top of the wall-to-wall carpeting.) But I can flip over my area rug! and put down the squares on top of the upside down rug.

Anita, I hope that works!

I did a Soul Sweat class barefoot today, and it felt great! The mat does shift a little, but not enough to bother me. I move it back between songs.

Hi All, can gliders be used on the cardio mats, such as the Gorilla Mat or Square 36 Mat? Or is the surface not smooth enough?

I do not own gliders, so I cannot answer. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

I have "Moving Man" discs, not traditional gliders. They wont work with the Square36 mat because it's more like a yoga sticky mat.

I also have the "Moving Man" type discs (Val Slides). I didn't think they'd work on the mat, but was hoping, as I'm really enjoying Linda Wooldridge's "Slide and Glide" series. The mat can just be rolled back for those workouts, I guess.

See my thread on flooring in your workout room

I am a flooring rep for the largest flooring manufacturer in the world and I posted some information recently about what to do when you have carpet in your workout room.
