I just stayed up way too late last night so I could finish Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus.
It's not one I'd have picked up at first glance, but a copy was gifted to me for my birthday by a librarian friend. So very readable!! Just don't try to convince yourself that you need just another hour to finish it (all night long). Yawn.

This was how I felt about her first book, Let's Pretend This Never Happened. Some parts were terrific but others seemed forced.

Started reading the doorstopper Shogun by James Clavell this weekend. Apart from the appalling violence and racism, it's quite a page-turner!
