Hi Ladies,
Yesterday was a very good exercise day for me!
We did 1 hour and 15 minutes of restorative yoga, which I had never done before. It's funny, in the past when I saw people talking about holding poses for 3-5 minutes I thought I would be bored, so I just never did that kind of yoga, but OMG, it was wonderful and so relaxing!
I didn't realize that in restorative yoga you are essentially *resting* in relaxing poses, so it's not like you're holding warrior 1 for 5 minutes. At first I was a little self-conscious about being in yoga wear in front of our students (so was my coworker, who had to serve as the model for the poses since the instructor recently had surgery and couldn't do them all), but I settled down in the back corner of the room and at some point felt like I was in my own peaceful, relaxing bubble and forgot about everyone else for the most part, especially since we spent a lot of time with our eyes closed. The students seemed to really enjoy it also! We're doing a similar practice today, so I'm looking forward to it again!
A little while after I got back to my office I had a 54 min (2.34 mile) walk and talk meeting around campus with one of my coworkers. I made it to over 14,500 steps for the day!
SB - I'm going to send motivation vibes AND words your way. This is what I'm also been telling myself:
Yes, you are off-track. But you ARE an exerciser! You enjoy it, you always have, and you always come back to it. It makes you feel better. You like for exercise to be a part of your life; it just naturally always has been. You like to exercise and hope to do it for as long as you are fortunate to be able to move your body. So do SOMETHING! Get up and move. Even if it's just for 10 or 15 minutes. You don't have to have a whole exercise plan in mind. You just have to get back in the habit. So, do what you enjoy, whether it be walking, dancing, Country Heat, Jessica Smith, or whatever you want, but do SOMETHING for as long you can. Just GET UP and DO IT!
This is what I have been telling myself
, and I now have a few days of working out under my belt, so it is working. No, I don't have an exercise plan in mind, but I am moving again. You just have to get yourself back in the habit, and I'm sure you will!
Waves to Penguin and Nora!
