Already mentioned, but just repeating for effect to be firm in requesting occupational therapy for your after-care. (I live in Canada with a healthcare system, but if you have insurance or medicare in the U.S you ought to easily qualify)
It really made a world of difference for my FIL.
Take care!

I thank everybody for their replies. I will check out facebook. The surgeon says my insurance will not pay for skilled care atfterwards, and I cannot afford to pay out of pocket. I am looking online for personal appliances, etc that might be helpful. I will be fitted with a brace a week before the surgery and I'm thinking that will give me an idea of what I can and cannot do. I would probably not have the surgery except for the fact that my sons have to take me to Dr visits and elsewhere in a wheelchair. They have to miss work to do that, so I feel that I have to do this. I really appreciate everyone's support!
