Barre After Foot Injury

I wrote last week about problems coming back from a broken foot. Thanks everyone for your support! If you remember my doctor had said I couldn't do barre any more. Today I asked the physical therapist about it, and he also said barre is out for me. Apparently, the problem is standing with my weight on the ball of my foot. It puts too much stress on the bones there. A good portion of the exercises in my barre classes had you standing on the balls of your feet with your knees bent and your legs in various positions like squat and plie. I don't know how I could duplicate those exercises with my feet flat. I can't ask anyone at the studio now because it's closed due to covid, and they are just having Zoom classes (which I haven't been doing). Does anyone know?

Barre3, while not traditional barre, might be a good place to start. Modifications are always offered and instructors typically cue flat foot (at least in my few months of using Barre3 workouts).

Are you in contact with your barre instructor at all, even though the studio is closed? It might be worthwhile to broach that with them, because it seems like it would be very easy to modify. The only other thing I can think of that might be a problem is even flat feet for single-leg exercises, such as standing at the bar on one leg and raising the other behind you or to the side in various abductions (my teacher loves that move; really fires up those glutes!).

For some alternatives if basically any barre is out, I'm wondering if you could do floor barre. The New York City Ballet Workout volume 1 has an entire section of barre moves all done lying down, and some of them are killer. It's not the entire video, but it's a long enough segment that if you want some of the same kinds of modalities, you could do a few sets of those every week and see some great results.
