My regular doctor is actually more of a "change your lifestyle" instead of "just prescribe meds" kind of doctor, so he's a lot more research based and much more root cause rather than treat symptoms. He believes a lot of bloodwork doesn't give the whole picture hormonally since it's what is just circulating at the moment the blood is drawn, not what is tissue based, but he still has me get bloodwork twice a year just to see where I'm at. He'd like me to get saliva tested for hormones but my insurance won't pay for it. He is also pretty stumped why all my hormones are so low but I told him that I'm tired of this wild goose chase of specialists. Both mentally and financially! He is really caring and knowledgeable so he said basically if he was concerned he'd tell me but he feels it's probably better to just live my life right now rather than keep going for all these tests that lead to nowhere. He also said he wouldn't be surprised if my body eventually rights itself after menopause. I've seen a few endocrinologists over the past 25 years or so (mostly because I had some hormonal issues in my early 20s, hmmm, I wonder if that's connected to now?) and everything was "normal" back then too. |

I am not sure I would make the same choice today, but at the time my symptoms were so bad that I felt desperate.

I was 47 when the periods stopped, and at 48 was diagnosed with osteoporosis. So BHRT was part of my successful effort at rebuilding my bone density. I was on it for about 10 years. I'm now looking at my muscles wasting away and wonder if it's not too late to go back on it. If my next dexa scan is not good, I will seriously consider it.

I have no kids ( I added the kids comment because I have heard that women that did not have kids could start menopause earlier) and my periods started to change when I was 42. I would have my regular cycle and the a week later I would spot. After a bit of time they would get VERY heavy and finally after a few years I stopped. Also when my periods started to change my pcp also told me that I was not in peri menopause but what do they know? I think we know more then they do when it comes to our bodies.
As far as the vaccine I have heard that ladies were starting their periods after not having them. But who knows what the vaccine could cause. If it can start them again I am sure it could stop them too.... |

I had my periods starting by 12. May be the eggs are all gone and thats why ovulation not happening anymore. Doctor if I am not having any symptoms and if I have had menopause then consider myself as lucky. Don’t know how it is going to go. Hoping for the best . Thank you everyone for the feedback and for sharing your experiences. |
