I loved this book too! Unfortunately, I keep reading her books hoping they'll be as good as this one, only to be disappointed. The Dilemma was especially terrible.

I loved Behind Closed Doors and The Breakdown, but I found both The Dilemma and Bring Me Back rather meh. I haven’t read her other books.

I just finished reading Mark Lanegan's memoir Sing Backwards and Weep which I'd found out about and had on my to-read list since he unfortunately passed away last year. Wow, what a fascinating, horrifying, haunting gut-punch of a memoir. Definitely not for the faint of heart!

So now because I need something lighter, I'm moving on to another book that's been on my to-read list, I'm Wearing Tunics Now: On Growing Older, Better, and a Hell of a Lot Louder by Wendi Aarons. I just started it but it's already promising.

This sounds like a fun read for book club, thanks! We're overdue for something lighthearted.

Excellent! I mentioned it because I had a feeling many on this forum (including myself) would resonate with and enjoy it, based on some of the topics of conversation I've seen here lately.

A Quick Thank You

I probably should have posted seasons (years?) ago.!!!

A quick thank you to all who post and share their good reads, etc.
I love to read, but rarely make/have time for it.

I had issues with my library card for YEARS. and FINALLY got it straightened out. My library is not convenient, but the one by my office is (but in another county). I finally got a new card, a sticker that allows me to borrow from out of county libraries and even got the electronic books to download to read on my ipad. (I would love to get it to download to my kindle. That's for another time. I'm just happy I can read from my Ipad.)

I have resurrected my GoodReads dot com account, although I never had anything in/on it. My goal is to read 12 books this year. (Which compared to you guys is probably nothing, but for me? It's a great accomplishment!)

Anyway .... I have read the following recently:

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue
by V.E. Schwab (recommended by a fellow pickleball player). Interesting read. Somewhat like time travel? A woman who lives forever.

Book Lovers by Emily Henry - one step above Hallmark. Was a great light(er) read

The Paris Notebook
by Tessa Harris

and I am currently reading:

The Girls in the Stilt House by Kelly Mustian - reminds me (a little) of Where the Crawdad's Sing (Recommended by a co worker)

So. Just a thank you to all for many recommendations I've read over the years! I hope to maybe give back at least a little bit.

Cleda

I finished Horse by Geraldine Brooks, which was wonderful, and I'm now reading The Half Moon by Mary Beth Keane.

Cleda, that's so great!!

Figuring out bureaucratic tangles can be such a slog, I'm glad you figured things out.

I've totally slacked off on my reading habits lately, have even been listening to podcasts and talks rather than audiobooks. Works for me, but there are books I want very much to explore (non-fiction TBR pile is huge) so I'm revamping my scheduling habits to make room for those books. A while back I did great with creating a bit of space in my day just to devote to some reading. Working on a bit of a digital break to help reset my habits.
