Commenting to bump this thread to hopefully get some more input as I'm interested as well. I have a fairly soft foam roller but have been looking at the plastic or harder ones with the nubs. I read that those are more "advanced" and get deeper into the muscle but can also be too much if one isn't an experienced "rollee."

this 36 inch, this 18 inch, this one from 4x4, and a Rumble Roller. I most use the Luxfit - it is firm and I like the longer length, have had it since 2017. The Rumble Roller I have only used a handful of times cause it is extremely hard and it hurts! I can use it on arms & legs but not back, hips, thighs. The TriggerPoint Core is too soft for my liking & couldn't feel the nubs. The 4x4 was somewhere in between soft & firm, just ok.

This is my favorite. It is fairly soft but it feels firm enough to do the job with the ridges. It was sold once on OPTP and I wore that one down but it took a few years of almost daily use. Found this seller on EBay and stocked up.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/OPTP-Low-De...edirect=mobile OPTP has good rollers but they are kind of pricey especially with shipping charges. I also like their Lo Rox rollers. Soft and hard. Their site can give you some good roller ideas. https://www.optp.com/search_results.cfm?kw=Foam+roller |

In my opinion, get the firmest one you can. I used to have a knot in my lower back. I had a soft roller and it did nothing. Total waste of money. Then I got a firm one (link below) with a lot of hard bumps and it really worked. it helped a lot in getting the knot out and it just feels good on sore muscles.
The have the blue firm one. It doesn't have to be wide. I think mine is only 24". https://www.power-systems.com/shop/product/rumbleroller |
