NM. Was answering an older question and realized my machine was different.

Oh man, I wish I had remembered this thread or done a search! Our 16 year old Frigidaire washer died on Friday and we bought a new Whirlpool (set) on Saturday. I hope we like them and they last!

Vannie, I hope they last for you. I have a 2008 Whirlpool washer and it's been great. Obviously things have changed, but I hope you got a good set!

Vantreesta, I hope you get to enjoy your new Whirlpool set for many years with no issues

I did some research on Speed Queens and apparently the company made some changes in 2018 and it looks like maybe the newer ones aren't quite the same as the older ones. Of course that doesn't mean the new Speed Queens are bad, but I was more impressed with the reviews I read on the Maytag MVWP575GW, so I think that is what we'll be buying this weekend.

Leonana, its nice the repairman gave you advice to hold onto a good machine. It is amazing that a 13 year old machine is worth saving, but a 10 year old machine isn't. Who would have ever thought that washing machines would get treated as "disposable"?!

That's the Maytag we have ready to use as soon as our washer breathes its last breath..

My Maytag is 34 years old! Never had a problem with it.

Well, I thought that was what we would be getting, but now I guess not. DH and I had a discussion today about finding space for a washer & dryer on our main floor so we don't have to carry a laundry basket up & down the cellar stairs anymore. Not sure yet if that means forfeiting some closet space for a stacked unit, or maybe fitting something under the kitchen island, but I'm pretty sure a top loader is out of the picture.

Well good luck!..it took us forever to settle on that one.
