You can use cold tap water Sherry, that's all I've ever used. Taking eggs from a steaming pressure cooker and putting into cold tap water is still going to shock them good!

Six minutes on steam, manually release pressure, put in a bowl of cold water -- perfect!! Give it a try, Sherry!

Thanks, Pat and Bee! We have cold bottles of water in the fridge, so I could use those as well.

I'll report back if I try it later today. I haven't even taken it out of the box yet

Sherry, you really need to pull it out and try it...you will be hooked! On the other hand, if your time is limited you may want to wait because you will be busy cooking up delicious food, looking for recipes, etc.

I am looking for a good chicken soup recipe. Does it foam up like the stove top ones I make? I'd like to use a whole, cut up chicken and get a rich broth. TIA

I just use cold tap water, which admittedly, can be cold this time of year (but I live in California, so not THAT cold!) and it works fine.

No cold water

or ice water necessary for TOG's recipe.
(Hence the reason I like it - see above comment about lazy!!!)

Thanks, Cleda!

I stumbled across this blog that has vegan Instant Pot recipes. This pumpkin steel cut oatmeal coffeecake recipe looks really good:
