Spartacus Sweat Storm

This review is for Spartacus Sweat Storm. This is one of 7 workouts in the Spartacus DVD workouts series. Men's Health produced it.

Sweat Storm (21 min.)
3 moves/5 rounds

-squat high pull with/without dbs
-reverse lunge with shoulder press (with/without dbs)
-renegade row into burpee squat to stand

Through each circuit, David Jack gives you progressions to make it harder and regressions to make it a bit easier.

90 second Finisher! (fast feet/jacks/heisman/high knee/squat jump)

I thought that in 21 minutes I wouldn't accomplish much....hmmm right...sweat storm indeed.

No cooldown so I added MH60 cooldown 1

Spartacus BodyWeight Revolution Review

BodyWeight Revolution is part of a 7 dvd Spartacus workout series. Men's Health produced it. David Jack leads the workout. There are 2 guys and 2 girls in each workout. There is a warmup round but no cooldown.

BodyWeight Revolution (35 min)
10 moves/3 rounds (30 sec on/30 sec off)

-plank walkup
-iso back squeeze
-reverse lunge rotation
-burpee for mobility
-lateral lunge
-rock back plank
-drop split lunge
-balance leg reach

-fast feet

Finisher: 3 minutes (Iso holds)
-squat/split squat/pushup hold

Throughout the circuit David gives progression/regressions to constantly change up your workout. Motivating background exercisers that are not perfect, some struggle and so you get to pick who you follow.

Well done workout

Spartacus Triple Set Scorcher

Triple Set Scorcher is a workout in the Spartacus 7 dvd workout series. It is produced by Men's Health. David Jack leads in this workout and there are 2 men and 2 women as background exercisers.

Triple Set Scorcher (30 min)
8 moves/3 rounds
-plank
-wood chop
-jerk with overhead press
-goblet squat
-front lunge
-lateral squat
-alt. back row
-deadlifts

During the warmup you go through all the exercises. As the real workout begins, David breaks the circuit into 3 exercises that you do in a circuit. you go through them 2X and then move on to the next 3. Following the same pattern.

The finisher involves a towel workout. Very similar to working with ropes in a gym.

David Jack shows progressions/regressions throughout the workouts. These are workouts that you can grow with.

Thanks for the review. Do the DVDs come with a schedule so you know when to do which DVD?

Spartacus rotation?

I don't remember Spartacus coming with a rotation, but I've found some online by searching "Spartacus Rotation Calendar" or something like that. I just tend to plug them in on alternate days.

Spartacus "Gladiator Gauntler"

This is a review of the Spartacus Workout Series "Gladiator Gauntlet". Spartacus is made up of 7 workouts. David Jack leads the workouts and shows plenty of regressions and progressions to make the workout work for you.

One note: When David intros the workout he calls it "Bodyweight Gauntlet" which is really not right because they do use weights in the workout.

Gladiator Gauntlet (20 min)
5 moves/5 rounds - 1st round serves as a warmup to get you ready for the next 4 rounds.
*single arm deadlift & switch halfway thru
*single arm high pull & switch halfway thru
*bodyweight reverse lunge & switch halfway thru
*single arm push press & switch halfway thru
*BW squat

***you can add weight to any of these moves. Background cast is showing various mods. To make it harder I suppose you could use both weights because sometimes the time frame/rep scheme is a bit off. This way it's more balanced.

Main workout - 4 of the above rounds with only 30 seconds of rest between each round (so the round lasts for 2.5 minutes and then you get a rest.)

Finisher (2 min)
4 moves/2 rounds (each move is 15 sec)
*jacks
*scissors
*quick heisman
*high knee run

There is no cooldown/stretch

Spartacus "Belly Crusher"

This is the final installment of the Spartacus Workout Series by Men's Health. It's made up of 7 workouts. This will review "Belly Crusher"

Workout (20 min)
5 moves/4 rounds (30/30)

*burpee for mobility
*single leg balance T hold
*bodyweight squat into reverse lunge
*lateral step & press overhead
*sumo squat to high pull

This warmup gets you ready for the next 3 rounds
David Jack shows regressions/progressions for each move. With each round, the move may change a bit, but there's always a background exerciser to follow.

I really like the versatility of this set.
