Poppyseed Dressing

Here is a recipe for Poppy Seed Dressing requested by one of my checkin buddies. This is good on strawberry-spinach salad (just spinach, sliced strawberries, and chopped red or sweet onion).

1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp minced onion (I use dried)
2 TB sesame seeds
1 TB poppy seeds
1/4 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp paprika
1/2 cup oil
1/4 cup vinegar

Blend all ingredients on low until well mixed. (I use my mini-chopper; you can use an immersion or regular blender.)

I didn't say it was healthy! Plus, since it is sweet, you don't need much.

ETA: You could also try subbing Splenda; that might work.

Thanks for posting, Beth.....that's an interesting combination of ingredients. I'll definitely try it out.....will probably see if I can play around with the sweetening part to see if I can reduce the quantity of sugar. Let me give that a little thought and see what "the experiment kitchen" (pretty much everything that happens in my kitchen is an experiment of some description! ) can come up with. I don't use artificial sweeteners, but I have some other options (including things I've purchased and never tried! ).

I'm all for cutting back the sugar if you can--let me know what you come up with!

Honey would be the obvious choice, although far less since it's sweeter than sugar.

I am planning to try a little stevia. I will report back on my results. The recipe sounds delicious!
