Building your own barre

A member who is having trouble logging in here wants to build her own barre from PVC pipes. Has anyone done this? Any tips? Thank you!

Hi Sherry,

I haven't made one myself so I have no experience to share, but there are many videos on youtube with detailed explanations.
This one is cute: PVC barre

And this one is made of galvanized piping. I'd much rather have a wooden bar to hang onto, but this looks very sturdy: Ballet barre

Good luck to your friend and I hope she can sign in here and tell us how she got on with her project. I might have to look into making a barre now that I'm doing more ballet workouts.

I don’t have a PVC barre, but I do have a two wall mounted DIY barres. My DH mounted a 4’ & a 6’ length of basic wood railing on heavy duty shelf brackets. The walls they are mounted on have plywood under the drywall so they are very sturdy. They don’t take up space & are inexpensive to do. I hang my mats & my straps on them when I’m not using them. There is a picture of my little studio in my profile.

ETA I really like the barre made from galvanized pipe! I wonder how heavy it is to move around?
