I have seen some portable ramps made for skate boarders at sporting goods stores. Maybe they would work.

How much do you want to spend? Ebay has the Gin Miller ramp for just over $50 with shipping.

For some reason, I had this thick foam wedge thing in my Amazon cart for ages--it was some kind of PT equipment--but I can't remember what I wanted it for. An incline weight bench, maybe. But searching out stuff like that might get you some ideas to improvise.

Is this the Firm step you mean? Can you use it as set up in this image, or would it be too narrow/unstable to step on?
