Need gentle yoga suggestions

My dear husband has a bad back, and fast-paced flexion and extension motions irritate it. While "regular" yoga (including yoga marketed as back care yoga) will take him down for a few days, he finds that slow-paced gentle yoga and stretching help.

Any suggestions for DVDs for him? (Help a girl out! Buying DVDs for him makes me feel better about buying DVDs for me -- I'm sure you know what I mean.)

Many thanks.

Has he tried Barbara Benagh's Yoga for Stress Relief? It has several routines for different health issues. If he wants to try it, he might want a blanket and a couple bolsters for lower back and SI joint routines.

Some back care yoga DVDs I think are really more preventative and designed for strengthening the back/core, but those can be tough if you are in pain! But others are more gentle and focused on pain relief/stretching only. Here are some more gentle ones that I'd recommend:

Mimi Solaire's Deep Stretch Yin Yoga (all 3 practices--just skip the "deep/advanced" stretch)
Barbara Benagh's Yoga for Back Care (definitely slow/gentle)
Emily Klingerman's Yoga Therapy for Back Pain (also gentle--I believe entirely on the floor)
Gary Kraftsow's Viniyoga Therapy for the Low Back, Hips, and Sacrum (a bit dry but effective)
Peggy Cappy's Yoga for the Rest of Us: Back Care Basics (super-gentle)

Hope some of these work for him!

Gentle Yoga through Somatic Exploration

That one and Lee Holden's qi gong DVDs will stay on my shelves forever.

My DH really likes Priscilla Patrick's Lower Back Repair Kit Yoga. It is one that can be done even when in discomfort. It has been around a long time and the DVD on her site is expensive.

There are a lot of Priscilla Patrick videos on YouTube; just search "Priscilla Patrick Yoga"

I'll throw in a plug for Allaire Back Fitness - it isn't yoga, but it is designed to strengthen your core in a progressive way to hopefully reduce back pain over the long term. There is also a "Bonus" stretch episode in Season 1 that is extremely gentle and works well when in pain.

I also second the Barbara Benagh recommendations for yoga!!

I've been interested in this myself but it's so pricey! Wish I could find someone willing to trade...
